Had a couple of calls recently from someone claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Management, which sounds a lot like the actual Telephone Preference Service to fool folks. They tried to chat about my call blocking "expiring," but I cut them off quick, told them not to ring me again, and they hung up. Not sure what their aim was, but I've blocked the number and plan to report them to the real TPS since their name is so close and could cause all sorts of confusion.

While I was already on a call, this number rang through. The message was all over the place, some recorded thing saying I supposedly had some kind of issue linked to my name, and that my property was apparently being watched. They urged me to call back quickly to avoid consequences. Honestly, I’m baffled since I haven’t done anything dodgy that would justify this sort of warning. Received some weird voicemail saying my home was being watched and I was facing charges or something. I called back to find out who they were and asked for their website. The bloke gave a name but then got nasty, shouting at me before cutting me off. Pretty sure it wasn’t some official like the tax office!

I got a call from this number saying I had a lawsuit on me and that my home was being watched. When I rang back on my work phone, someone answered claiming to be from the HMRC tax office saying there’s a case against me. I reported the number on Twitter and sent recordings of the voicemail to both HMRC and the police. Thankfully, HMRC replied within a few hours saying it wasn’t them and to just ignore the call. The police also said it’s definitely a scam.

Got a call earlier and saw I'd missed it, so I rang back and told the guy my name. He said he was calling from HMRC, but I told him I wasn’t going to share any details. Then he suddenly started swearing at me, which really threw me off. No clue how they got hold of my number. Since I’ve just changed address, maybe it’s something to do with the estate agent? Had a call from a different number but same annoying HMRC scam, they’ve tried ringing me three times already. The last time they asked my name, I flipped it and asked him to say my name instead, and then he just hung up on me.

Got a robo call pretending to be from HMRC, telling me I’m under investigation and my home is being watched. Complete nonsense. I contacted HMRC to verify and they said they’ve had loads of reports about calls from different numbers like this. Following their advice, I’ve reported the number to the Police as a nasty scam. Funny enough, I’ve just registered a new domain name recently too, like a few others.

HMRC always just sends letters, or if they email, it won’t say anything specific unless you check your Self Assessment online. No need to stress!
