So, there was this chap of Asian descent with a rather peculiar name who rang us up. The missus picked up, and he claimed to be from BT, saying there was some dodgy business going on with our internet, even though we're definitely not a BT customer. He tossed out a number to supposedly validate his story, but my wife wasn’t having any of it and hung up. He tried to get through again later, but she decided to ignore the call. Quite the odd situation, I must say!

This afternoon, my landline received a rather suspect call from a chap claiming to be from BT, informing me of some maintenance work and alleged issues with my broadband, insisting that someone was attempting to breach my connection. He requested that I log into my laptop, which immediately raised alarm bells. I decided to tell him to phone back later, as I was otherwise occupied. Following this, I contacted BT and my internet provider, only to discover that it was a scam; they assured me they would never reach out regarding such matters. The caller, who said his name was David Williams-though that sounded a tad dubious-provided a code claiming it was for identity verification. When he rang again, I mentioned I'd already spoken to BT and learned it was all a ruse. He questioned which number I had called, suggesting I should've phoned the number he used to reach me. Absolutely not, I firmly told him where to go!

I received a call from this number on 17th January 2018, bright and early in the morning. The caller claimed to be from BT, saying there were issues with my internet connection and requested permission to access my computer. The chap had an Indian accent, and I could hear the typical hum of a call centre in the background. It felt quite dodgy, to be honest!
