I just looked at my inbox and saw a missed call where they claimed HMRC was filing a legal claim, but they didn’t mention who the case was actually against.

I got a call from 02032864682 saying HMRC was taking legal action against me... when I tried calling back, the line just wouldn’t connect. It was really distressing, especially since I’ve just lost my husband. I’ve gone ahead and blocked the number now.

This morning, around 10:20, our neighbour was left shaken after getting a call from someone pretending to be HMRC, threatening legal action against her. She was really upset about the whole thing. What annoys me the most is how they're even allowed to get away with this kind of scare tactic. When she tried calling the number back, 02032864682, it just went dead silent. Totally frustrating!

I got a call on 28/06/2016 around 10:10 in the morning. They said HMRC were about to sue me. They told me to hit 1 on the phone. When I did, some Asian guy answered. I asked if he was calling from India and then he just cut me off.

I got a call like that too on 28/6/16 around 10.20. I just let my voicemail get it and it played some message about HMRC suing me or something, telling me to press 1. As soon as I heard that, they just cut the call off.

This number just kept having loads of noise in the background, like a bunch of other folks said. I’ve already added it to my call blocking list now.

Got a call just yesterday claiming to be from HMRC. The bloke on the line had a strong accent and kept talkin' about somethin' to do with a credit card and a restaurant, but I couldn't make much sense of it. When I asked how that was connected to HMRC, he just froze for a bit then hung up. There was some weird noise in the background too that made it sound pretty sketchy!

Got a really unpleasant call from an Asian guy who wanted to speak to my husband. I told him he wasn’t here and asked who he was, then he started insisting on knowing where my husband was. When I asked who he was, he just hung up! Proper rude.

Making threats about suing people like this could really upset older folks, especially pensioners. Honestly, this firm ought to be brought before a court for what they're doing.

Usually if it's from the Inland Revenue, you'd see an 0300 or some sort of 08 number. Best just to block or not answer.

Just like many others, I got this recorded voicemail saying HMRC were taking me to court and to press 1 or ring back. It felt really dodgy from the start, obviously some kind of scam.

I got this automated message on my answerphone, something about HMRC going after me for a lawsuit. Being new here in the UK, it genuinely freaked me out for a moment. It definitely felt dodgy, but still, it had me quite stressed. What a nasty scam!

Got a robo call with one of those fake American accents, saying it was from the Inland Revenue. The message told me to either call them back or ring a certain number. They said something about taking legal action against me. These scams seem to never stop showing up. It really breaks my heart thinking about older folks or anyone who might get really worried and lose sleep over these cruel tricks.

I already shared what happened to me with this scam, and just want others who might have been caught out to know that my accountant checked with HMRC. They said they know about this scam but can’t really trace the caller since the calls come from abroad.

Got an automated call on my voicemail from a bloke with an American accent, sounded like it was made by a computer. He claimed to be from the tax office in Tottenham warning me about a lawsuit HMRC’s supposedly putting on me. Said to press 1 or ring them back straightaway. Oddly, when I checked the number using 1471, it showed up with an extra zero at the start.

Told me to press 1 or ring back straight away. Odd thing was, when I checked the number with 1471, it showed up with an extra "0" at the start.

I got a call from some bloke speaking in an American accent, left a message about a warrant being out for me and told me to call back on that number. Honestly, I'm so fed up with it all now. I've ended up blocking that number. There’s loads of these calls coming through on different numbers, all recorded too.

I got a call claiming to be from HMRC about taking legal action against me for tax evasion. Feeling worried and confused, I rang the number back to check what's going on. All I got was an automated message on my voicemail. The moment I asked to speak to someone, the line went dead. Tried calling back a few times and the same thing happened each time. Definitely a scam, and it's really nasty for small business owners like me. Just sharing this so others who’ve had this call can spot it - these people are just out to prey on folks.

Got a call early evening, 6th June, from someone saying he was from HMRC. The odd thing was the number showed up as international. Had me worried so I checked all my accounts and tax stuff - thankfully all sorted and paid. Sounded like a guy with a weird accent, maybe Indian or something mixed up with a midatlantic twang? Tried phoning back but the line was dead. Watch out for this one!

A man with a really thick accent called, claiming to be from HMRC and gave his name as Peter Wilson. He said they were getting ready to take legal action against me. His poor English made me doubtful straight away. When I asked for his address, he said 100 Parsiamen, which didn’t sound right at all. I asked where that was exactly, but he just changed the subject. I then mentioned I reckoned he was calling from overseas, and he just ended the call.
