Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming to be from HMRC saying I was under investigation. He told me if I didn’t press 1 to speak to the officer handling the case, they’d issue a warrant for my arrest! I just hung up and blocked the number straight away. This isn’t the first time either - I got a similar call before, this time from a Cambridge number. Still waiting on that arrest though!

I called him out, saying he sounded like a bad scammer since he couldn’t say which company he worked for or what loan the refund was about - only mentioned the Financial Conduct Authority. I even told him he should brush up on his scam techniques. He didn’t actually ask for anything else or try to get more info from me (maybe trying to phish?).

Somebody rang me up about a £400 PPI refund and asked which bank I use. I gave them the wrong bank name by mistake. Then they wanted to know if I preferred a cheque or a direct deposit, so I chose cheque. After that, they just said thanks and hung up.

He didn’t bother to give his name or say which company he was with during our brief chat.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent saying I had a PPP cheque ready to be deposited into my account. He even read out my address and postcode, asking me if it was right. Then he wanted my birth date, but I refused to give it. He kept saying it was for a security check, but I told him I wasn’t about to share that info for "security reasons." Told him to just send the cheque in the post instead. He just hung up on me after that.
