I received a call from a woman with a distinctly subcontinental accent who claimed she was contacting me on behalf of 3. When I pointed out that 3 had no right to ring me or retain my number, she insisted it was for some sort of promotional deal. I made it clear that I hadn’t given my consent for anyone to use my number for promotional reasons. Her tone quickly soured, and she claimed not to have any information about me. I reiterated that she had my phone number and that they should delete it since they hadn't obtained my permission. At that point, she had the audacity to call me foolish!

Quite peculiar, I must say! A rather courteous gentleman with a pronounced accent answered after a slight delay, stating he was conducting market research while reading from a script. He mentioned it concerned the pandemic, but I found the questions excessively lengthy and predominantly centred around smoking habits. Now, I don’t partake in smoking at all. I managed to endure approximately three minutes before I excused myself and hung up. If this is indeed a legitimate survey, it’s rather poorly conceptualised, I’d argue. I couldn’t shake off the feeling that I might be subject to reverse billing-what’s the point of a smoking-related survey that fails to kick off with "Do you smoke?" unless it’s some sort of scam aimed at keeping one engaged?
