Strangely, he had a reference number that I had just received earlier that day from someone purporting to be with a crypto trading platform-another con, I suspect, but clearly connected. He didn’t provide any useful information; instead, I strung him along for a bit before telling him that I was quite uneasy with the situation and intended to ring back using the official NCA line. He swiftly ended the call. It's baffling why these fraudsters can’t be tracked down. Surely there’s a process in place for monitoring these numbers?
