I had a rather peculiar phone call earlier today, claiming that I was selected for a governmental grant of £8,000. They urged me to ring up a chap named Mr. Ross Taylor. It all seems a bit too fantastic, don’t you think?

I had a similar experience, the offer began at £8000 but somehow dropped to just £1000 by the time the call finished. I can't quite remember what I said to make them lower the amount. They gave me a grant ID number and asked me to ring back on that same 0203 239 5352 number. What puzzles me is that if the government genuinely wanted to give me money, they already have my details - like my address and phone number - so why involve some random middleman?

I ended up giving them a ridiculous name, something like Joe Scam-F#cker, just to see what they'd say. After a bit, they finally caught on and, at the end of it, actually threatened me saying they’d mess me up proper with fire. Quite the cheek!

Got the exact same thing - someone tried to pitch me 8 grand.

Like before, I was let down when they only offered me £1000. I kept him hanging around till he was ready to leave, then I asked if he actually thought I was daft, and he said yes. We ended up having a weird chat where he insulted me with some colourful language, but oddly enough, he wasn’t too rude overall!

I kept him on the line for about 15 minutes, and then he just hung up on me!

Looks like Ross Taylor is rather generous with his cash! An Indian chap attempted to coax me into giving him a ring earlier today. I’ve reported the encounter on www.actionfraud.police.uk.

Received a call from 02032395352, claiming they could secure me a government grant worth £8,000. However, they provided a different number, 0002389001076, to ring back on. I strongly suspect it's a scam. Always best to be cautious!

Got a call from someone claiming I was entitled to £8,000 from some government grant. They gave me a couple of numbers and a code to call, saying I needed to buy £200 worth of iTunes gift cards first to get the cash. That didn’t sound right to me at all, definitely seems like a con, so I’m not falling for it.

These pesky little pests just won’t give in, will they? Even as I sift through these remarks, they keep at it! I told this chap, I’m checking out five different sites, all of which are shouting that it’s a scam!

Seems like a total rip off, someone just gave me a call asking for donations.

Just had a right palaver at work with a dodgy caller. A chap with an Asian accent, clearly sequestered in some chaotic call centre, could barely get his words through the terrible reception. He claimed I was eligible for an £8,000 grant from the UK government. Now, I had a hunch this was just a ruse, and rather than give him the satisfaction of a straightforward rejection, I decided to entertain his nonsense for a bit. I made him clarify various bits, and after some back and forth, he ended up suggesting I call a 0203 number to chat with a manager about sorting out the grant. I swiftly let him know exactly what I thought of his offer and where he could stick that number.

Someone phoned me saying I could get a £5,000 grant for free. I didn’t even bother calling them back. No one just hands out free money like that. I might be a bit older, but I’m no fool.

I've had a call from this number, claiming I could be eligible for an £8000 grant courtesy of a chap named Mark Peterson. The address provided was on the 1st floor of Holborn Gate, located at 3305 High Holborn, London WC1V 7QT, with a reference number of CL335. I was instructed to ring the number and speak to Mr Ross Taylor directly. Quite curious, isn't it?

I got a call from an Asian lady who spoke really badly and told me I'd won a £1000 government grant. She said I had to ring 02032395352 to verify it.

Just like everyone else, I’m a law-abiding citizen - not dodging debts or anything dodgy! I was aware of that, cheers. I got curious and waited on the phone, fibbing about my age and job (maybe I really *am* a criminal who knows!). She clearly had no clue who she was talking to or she would've corrected me. In the end, she offered me £8,000 and told me to ring 0203 2395352 with the activation code LE0081. Then, she rang back after 10 minutes asking why I hadn’t contacted the “Accountant” yet and said I needed to do it immediately! Yeah right...I just hung up.

Just like the other reviews say, I was told I’m a perfect citizen and promised £8,000 as a reward. They never asked for my bank info tho. They told me to call this number 0203 239 5352 - yeah right!!! So I decided to check the number on a reverse lookup. Really appreciate this website for that!! Sharing this to warn others.

Got a call from this woman who just kept mixin up what I was sayin, saying I should call 0203 239 1273 for some government grant of £8000. Yeah right, like that’s gonna happen! When I asked if I could pay by cheque, she didn’t even flinch and said the number was free to ring - which it definitely isn’t. No way I’m falling for this one, even if the cash would be handy!

I received a rather curious notification stating that the British government had earmarked a grant of £8000 for me. It mentioned that to access these funds, I needed to ring a specific number or the alternative, which is 02032390675. Quite odd, isn't it?

Got a call from some bloke saying I'd been picked for an £8000 grant from the UK Government. He threw me a reference number and said I should call his boss at 02032395352 to sort out the payment. Like I'd actually ring that! I told him I found it odd the government was handing out cash to the unemployed and pensioners when there's barely any funds for fixing the roads around here.

ABSOLUTE CON JOB! Seriously, don’t let yourself be deceived. An £8k government grant for merely being a decent British citizen? Really? They had the cheek to ask me to call back with a code and then instructed me to pop down to my nearest Post Office the following day. Apparantly, I was supposed to hand over £210 to claim the supposed £8k. They even mentioned I couldn’t use the money for “gambling, boozing, and the like,” to which I cleverly replied that I'd be spending it on my disabled husband. Not a flicker of remorse from them! Now, my husband and I are retired, but thankfully I’m still quite alert for my age and saw through their ruse immediately; instead, I decided to have a bit of fun with him while multitasking. Rest assured, he won’t be getting a penny of my pension. These scammers are the absolute scum of the earth; I feel like they’re rubbish on my shoe, and I wouldn’t wish any good upon them or their offspring. I know that sounds harsh, but honestly, individuals like this have no right to expect any sympathy. I've already reported it to Action Fraud, and I strongly advise anyone who gets a call from these crooks to do the same. Stay vigilant!

Total rip off, honestly. They keep sayin the UK Government’s giving me cash - like that’s gonna happen. What puzzles me is why they said I’d get £1000 when others are shouting about getting £8000? Proper confusing and a bit annoying if you ask me.

I received a rather peculiar phone call, reminiscent of what was mentioned earlier, claiming to be from a department of the British Government. They insisted that my name had been randomly selected for a grant of £8000. The caller inquired whether I preferred a cheque, cash in hand, or a bank transfer. Naturally, I opted for a cheque and was transferred to another person. However, I struggled to comprehend what they were saying. I was advised to reach out to them at a specific number and asked about their closing time, which I was informed was 6pm. Just curious, where on earth are Mr. Cameron’s folks finding all this cash to dish out?

Had a few calls from them, and honestly, they talked to me like I was daft. They said I could get an £8000 grant but only if I paid a small fee first. Then, the very next day, they rang again all pushy and annoyed because I hadn’t paid up. Not impressed!

Got a phone call telling me I could get an 8k grant, just needed to ring a number and give them an activation code. The bloke on the other end was struggling to read from a script, which made me think right away it was a scam.

Received a call from this number claiming to be from a department of the British Government. The chap mentioned something about a lucky draw where they were dishing out £8000 to a few randomly selected individuals! To be honest, I struggled to grasp everything he was saying. He was asking whether I preferred the cash to be sent through the post or directly deposited into my bank account. I was instructed to give them a ring back, supplying a reference number he had provided, along with confirming my name and address. I mean, come on - the British Government handing out £8000 to folks at random? Sounds a bit far-fetched, doesn’t it?

Got a call from a woman named Jennifer claiming I qualified for some £8k grant or sumthing, sounded a bit off with her strong Indian accent which made me suspicious straight away. She never mentioned the exact name of this grant and I always pay my taxes through PAYE so didn’t make sense. She told me to ring back on this number and chat with her accountant to sort out the payment via MoneyGram or a cheque. Felt dodgy to me!

Received a call from a number I couldn't trace, claiming I'd been selected for an £8000 grant courtesy of the UK Government. Apparently, all I needed to do was ring this number and have a chat with a supervisor to confirm the details. An £8000 "free grant" from the Government, you say? Sounds a bit too good to be true. Much like believing in fairies, I'm not falling for it. Clearly a scam!

I've noticed that the same number keeps calling, and it’s rather suspicious. It feels like they're particularly trying to take advantage of older individuals.
