Just like all the other calls, it was a recorded message warning me about a police warrant for my arrest.

Got a call like this yesterday too. It was pretty clear it was a scam, but like a few others have said, it could really distress some people. Seriously, why is this still happening?

Got a call from some scammer pretending to be HMRC, telling me I've got an arrest warrant for tax evasion. I knew straight away it was fake, but still, it’s quite upsetting. I can’t imagine how awful it must be for people who fall for it and believe it’s real.

I’m definately going to report this scam to the authorities. It’s awful because older folks or those not feeling great might fall for it. Really scary, especially if someone with dementia picks up the phone.

Got a robotic bloke on the line claiming to be from HMRC, said there was a warrant out for me but the case hadn't even started! Totally a scam, no question. They've got a number they want you to ring back on but whatever you do, don't call it. If you're unsure, just look up the official HMRC number yourself and ring that one.

My elderly mum got a call from someone claiming to be the tax office, but their tone was really threatening. Why on earth hasn’t BT blocked this number yet? Feels like they should’ve done something by now.

Just like last time, these people are absolute scumbags. HMRC my foot! Honestly, I might’ve found it funny if I wasn’t so fuming. Totally made-up nonsense. This time they used a British pre-recorded voice instead of the typical Indian one. Best thing to do? Hang up immediately. Block them. Never answer calls from 0203 2889 6969 - or better yet, don’t pick up any unknown number at all.

So apparently, there's a warrant out for my arrest or something, and I have to sort out a fine like, right now. Honestly, what a pain! Someone's just after their Xmas cash, but they’re not seeing a penny from me this year.

My 85-year-old mum called me all shaken up after getting a voicemail saying there was a warrant out for her arrest and instructing her to ring 02032896969 straight away to sort out a fine. She was absolutely terrified, but luckily I found this website and was able to calm her down. Does anyone know if there is a place to report this kind of call?

I had read about these calls before but never actually got one until today. Immediately knew it was dodgy and blocked the number without a second thought. It’s so awful how these scammers target the elderly and those who can’t easily defend themselves.

I had a pretty similar thing happen to me. They told me I had to ring back that number or the police would be after me. So I dialled from my landline, but when I refused to give them my mobile number, the bloke just ended the call. I've gone ahead and reported it to Action Fraud so hopefully the police can sort it out. Just so you know, genuine HMRC people or anyone working for them won’t ever ring you like that.

Got a call from some scam lot claiming I had a warrant out for me. I called them back just to see what kind of people do this and how they can sleep at night saying stuff like that to strangers.
