I got a call from someone claiming to be from HMRC asking for my National Insurance number. When I refused, they started getting aggressive and threatening me with lawyers and people turning up at my house. Told them to quit bothering folks and leave us alone. I can tell you straight up, this isn’t HMRC calling! Don’t stress about the voicemail you got, it’s not a real message from them. Just so you know, legit HMRC lines, even for personal stuff, always start with 03000... never 020. So keep an eye out and don’t trust those numbers.

Got a call from a bloke a bit earlier on from the same number ‭07310 357347‬, then moments later a lady rings me up. She was claiming there’s some sort of tax evasion probe going on with my name. Definitely sounds like a scam to me.

This mornin I got calls from 02031790391 and 07310357347, one had a recorded woman’s voice and the other a bloke’s, both going on about tax evasion and warning me the police were on their way to my house. I’m a 73 year old lady and I’m still working, so I always pay my taxes. What worries me more is older folks who might get scared and fall for this obvious scam.

Just a heads up, HMRC will NEVER ring you direct - if you’ve been in the UK for a while you’d know that. Sorry for shouting but it’s important! Now when I get these calls I just play along, telling them I’m actually a criminal lawyer so can I represent myself? Bit of fun to pass the time!

So today I got a call from someone claiming to be James from the Home Office, with a number 523983. They told me I was supposed to get a letter on 3rd February, but I never did! It was proper frightening. The person then said a police officer would show up at my place and that I owe about £5000 in unpaid taxes. Totally freaked me out!
