Got a call from a dodgy connection, they claimed they were gathering info for some government grants related to research and development. It all sounded a bit off to me, so I just said I wasn’t interested. They've since blocked me, probably because I didn’t go along with it.

Not really sure if it's connected or just some coincidence.

He called me claiming to be from IFF asking about job stuff. I told him I wasn’t interested and hung up because he just wouldn’t take no for an answer. Then he kept ringing back non stop! Got so fed up I told him I’d report him for harassment and finally, he stopped. Proper annoying 😠😠

Someone said they were from HMRC but then told us to speak to our accountant about tax relief? If that were true, they’d already have the details of our authorised agent. The caller kept mumbling something about working for ISL or IFL, not quite sure which.

I got a call from a woman who sounded a bit anxious, saying she was from HMRC and wanted to speak to whoever handles 'Tax Relief and Capital Allowances'. When I asked why she didn’t know the name, she said HMRC doesn’t share that info. I figured it might be some kind of survey, so I told her I wasn’t interested and ended the call. Looking back, I probably should have kept chatting since I’m an accountant - could’ve been a laugh. But for most people who aren’t as clued up about scams, this could be quite risky, so I’ve flagged it as suspicious.
