Just got another one of those dodgy messages claiming my National Insurance number is on the chopping block. You know, at this point, given how much I've contributed over the years, a little respite wouldn't be the worst thing! Haha! But on a serious note, it's definitely a scam. If you're clued in, you'll notice the oddity in the voice message-ends with ‘May God bless’-not really the sort of sign-off you’d expect from HMRC, is it? Just avoid it like the plague! 😉

Just like all the others, this is utter rubbish! They’ve been yapping on about my National Insurance number being terminated unless I dial their so-called helpline. What a load of balderdash!

Be cautious if you receive a call claiming to be from HMRC; it's likely a scam. If you happen to get such a call, make sure to notify the police as well as your local tax authority. Stay vigilant!

I got a call out of the blue, so I decided to ring them back. They then enquired if I was a different person altogether. I've gone ahead and reported the whole thing to HMRC as it clearly smells like a scam.

Greetings! I received a rather unsettling message today from this number, asserting that legal proceedings were underway against me. They even referenced my NI number accurately! It was an automated voice message, complete with a case number urging me to ring back to avoid court escalation. The call occurred on 2nd December 2020, precisely at 12:10 in the afternoon. Strangely enough, they didn’t disclose any company name. Quite clearly a scam, although it was convincingly worded!

I received a voicemail from an unfamiliar number, so I decided to call back. After just three rings, someone picked up and identified themselves as HMRC. Without a doubt, it was a scam. The chap claimed his name was Stephen Hernandez, but his accent made it quite evident he was from India. He inquired if I was the individual they were trying to contact, to which I replied I wasn’t; rather, I was the legal representative for the person using that number. I pressed for more information, but it turned out to be a recorded message. He then repeated his question, asking if I was the intended recipient and followed up by asking for the client’s address. I firmly refused to provide that. When I asked for his badge number, he told me it was 11205, but he swiftly asked again for the address. I declined once more, and that’s when he abruptly ended the call. I redialed, and once again, they answered as HMRC. When I requested clarification, he had the audacity to ask if I was deaf! I couldn’t help but chuckle, calling them out as scammers. I inquired about his name, and he said it was Eric. When I again requested his badge number, he made a crude remark about my mother. I decided to check with my mum to see if she recognised an Eric or if he had contacted her. Unfortunately, she had no idea who he was.

Just like a NI number, it’s something that stays with you for your entire life and can’t be annulled.

They claimed to be representatives from HMRC and warned that failure to return their call could result in court action and the cancellation of my National Insurance number, among other things.

I experienced just the same nonsense regarding the magistrates’ court. When I tried calling the number again, someone on the line - I think it was 1137 or thereabouts - claimed they weren’t available. What a complete load of rubbish!

I received a rather alarming phone call from someone claiming to be from HMRC. They told me that my National Insurance number would be revoked if I didn’t return the call. They even provided a case ID: xxxxx and mentioned something about it going to the magistrates court. It was genuinely distressing! Such tactics are unsettling, especially for those who might be more susceptible to fear.
