Got a message saying my NI number was gonna be suspended, kinda funny cos ive put loads into it already, wouldn’t mind a pause... haha. But for real, don’t fall for it, total scam. What gave it away for me was the voicemail ending with 'May God bless' - bit odd coming from HMRC, innit? ;)

Got one of those calls too, saying my National Insurance number would be revoked unless I rang their "support" line. Total rubbish, just like everyone else's experience.

Got a call from some scammers pretending to be HMRC. Just a heads up, don’t trust them. If you get one, make sure you let the police know and tell your local tax office as well. Stay safe!

Got a call from an unknown number, so I rang them back. They then questioned if I was another person. I’ve reported the whole thing to HMRC via email since it seemed dodgy.

Hey, I got a message on my phone earlier too, saying I’m being taken to court and even used my correct National Insurance number. It was an automated voice leaving a reference number and told me to ring back before legal steps happen. It came through at 12:10 pm on 2nd Dec 2020. They didn’t say what company they were from at all. Definitely a scam but it felt really convincing, quite worrying!

Got a voicemail from someone claiming to be HMRC, so I called back. After a few rings, someone picked up saying they were from HMRC, but the accent sounded very much like it was from India, so I was immediately suspicious. The bloke said his name was Stephen Hernandez. When he asked if I was the person they were trying to reach, I explained I was the legal rep for that individual using their phone. I asked for more details about this supposed recorded call, but he just kept asking if I was the right person and then wanted the client’s address. I refused to give it. He then told me his badge number was 11205 and asked again for the address. I said no again and he hung up. So I called straight back, and the same thing happened with someone answering as HMRC. When I asked them to repeat, the guy rudely asked if I was deaf! I told him straight up they were scammers. He said his name was Eric and when I asked for his badge number, he responded with a rude comment referencing my mum. I asked my mum if she knew any Eric or if he’d left a number, but she had no idea who he was. Definitely a dodgy call!

Just like before, a NI number lasts forever and you can't cancel it.

I had a call from someone claiming to be magistrate court as well. I rang back and a voice answering with a number like 1137 or something told me they weren't free. Honestly, it felt like such a load of rubbish.

I got a call from someone claiming to be HMRC, saying my National Insurance number would get cancelled if I didn't ring them back. They gave me a case ID, something like xxxxx, and warned I’d be taken to magistrates court. Proper awful phone, really frightening stuff, especially for folks who might be easily scared.

I just got a call saying my National Insurance number and HMRC records are about to get cancelled. Not sure if it’s a scam, but it sounded pretty serious. Anyone else had this happen?
