Phone number ☎️ 02031298297 👆 is reported as a persistent and distressing scam number impersonating HMRC, targeting mainly elderly and vulnerable individuals with threatening, automated messages about alleged unpaid taxes and impending legal action. Victims are strongly advised not to engage, return calls, or provide any information. Many urge reporting to Action Fraud, HMRC, and relevant authorities, and recommend using call-blocking or the Telephone Preference Service to reduce nuisance contacts. This scam number has been active for years and continues to cause harm.

Got a call from HMRC claiming I had unpaid tax and they would take legal action if I didn’t settle up in 24 hours. Funny enough, this number is ringing again since all the other complaints I saw were from back in 2017.

I got a voicemail basically saying the same threatening stuff as others have mentioned. It’s really nasty and quite worrying.

I’m self employed and got really nervous when I caught those answerphone messages, like what others mentioned, there were two. Really grateful for the reviews on this site, cheers everyone!

Got a weird voicemail too, but the guy was called "Eric Foster," not "Lisa Williams". I told him straight up that I knew it was a dodgy call and he just lost it, swearing at me like mad. Bit of a letdown, I was looking forward to having a bit of fun messing about with him like I do with those dodgy tech support scammers!

This afternoon, my answerphone picked up a message that I’m pretty sure was a scam. I’m not exactly young, and hearing this Officer Lisa Williams talk so seriously really got to me, even though I knew right away it was probably a con. What really worries me is imagining a kind, older woman who might actually believe it and end up responding!

I got a voicemail from this number, so I rang back about five minutes later. The person who picked up had an accent, maybe Bengali or Indian, somewhere in that region. Their English was quite poor, and when I told them the call felt threatening, I became suspicious it was a scam. Usually, you'd get a letter first from HCM, not a call like this. What really upset me was when they mentioned my daughter’s name, even though she doesn’t live with me. After that, the line went dead on their side. I tried calling again, and sure enough, they answered briefly before falling silent once more. It’s awful behaviour and really needs to be stopped. I’m a pensioner and luckily still alert, but not everyone is so fortunate. These people are vile and should be dealt with urgently.

This number called me earlier today and left a message that seemed pretty intimidating. I’m glad to hear it’s a scam, that definitely eases my mind. What’s really bothering me though is that it feels like these calls are targeting older people, and honestly, I’m not ready to be lumped in with the elderly just yet.

Before coming across this site, I rang the number back. The guy wasn’t some robot or anything, he told me straight up I had some issues with HMRC. When I asked what my next move was, he just told me to go f### myself, like I already knew how or something. Really nasty behaviour, awful experience!

Like so many others have said, these callers are just daft - you'd think they'd know that their threats sound totally fake and ridiculous. Honestly, the best thing you can do is ignore them completely because answering just encourages their rubbish behaviour.

I got a call from the number 001300117, which I've already reported. A woman on the line claimed I was being taken to court for tax fraud. When I called her out for being a scammer and dared her to try suing me, she quickly told me to shove it and basically told me to go to hell. After that, I got a weird text with a robo-call message, like others mentioned, saying a legal writ had been issued against me. The caller, who said her name was Lisa Williams, ended the message by wishing me a nice day, which was just strange.

Got a call on the 26th of August, and like others have said, it was a really nasty automated message pretending to be from HMRC, warning about urgent and expensive legal trouble if you don’t get back to them. Feels like they’re just trying to frighten folks into answering so they can trick them into giving away personal info. Proper dodgy stuff. It’s quite alarming how these scams seem to be popping up more and more lately.

Today, my mum got called five times by this number, and like others have said, they claimed she owed money and said they were from HMRC. She's 83 and it really upset her. I told her to just put the phone down straight away because real government agencies always send letters, not calls. It’s shocking how they’re preying on older folks who are easy to scare. Something needs to be done about this fast.

My dad is 78 and today he got a robo call from this number which made him feel really uneasy and irritated. I tried to reassure him that it's just a scam and they probably blast these automated messages to countless made-up phone numbers. Still, he was worried about how they managed to get hold of his actual number. Honestly, these scammers are brutal - they don’t care at all about scaring anyone. They should be put behind bars.

I got a voicemail from this number and called back about five minutes later. The person who answered sounded like he was from South Asia, maybe Bangladeshi or Indian, and his English was pretty poor. I told him the call felt really threatening. I immediately thought it was a scam since normally you'd get a letter first from the authorities. It really pissed me off when he mentioned my daughter's name - she doesn’t even live here, so that was a dead giveaway something was wrong. Then the line just went dead on his end. I tried calling him again and he picked up briefly before it went silent again. This is really bad, and it needs to be stopped. I'm retired and thankfully still sharp, but not everyone is, and these scams are dangerous. They’re no good and need to be shut down for good.

We just got the same kind of voicemail on our landline not long ago. I wonder if the company behind this 0203 number, whether it’s BT, Sky, or some other provider, could block these calls from reaching us. Around 3 this afternoon, I got a call just like that one. I felt a bit worried for Officer Lisa, she sounded really stressed about my big legal case. You could tell from how tense she was that she's been through some tough health stuff recently - I genuinely hope she gets better soon so she can keep helping folks with cases like mine. Even after all the threats, it was nice that Officer Lisa still wanted to stay friendly and ended the call wishing me a “blessed day.” It’s reassuring to know she cares, guess I’ll be sleeping easy tonight. I picked up and an automated voice started saying, “This message concerns you,” then claimed to be from HMRC, warning me it was my final chance to deal with a supposed lawsuit and gave a number to call Lisa Williams on 2031298297. They forgot to include the initial ‘0’ in the phone number. The call ended with “Have a blessed day,” which struck me as odd since HMRC wouldn’t use that phrase, and it doesn’t sound very British. My mum, who's quite old, found a voicemail on her answering machine that really unsettled me when I heard it. Thankfully, she called me instead of returning the call. They said there was some kind of lawsuit against me and that I had to ring the given number. Took me a moment, but I figured out it was a scam. Still, it did make me uneasy for a bit.

Some dodgy lot pretending to be from HMRC, trying to scam cash from older folks who don't really deserve it. Absolute disgrace.

This morning my mum got a call from this number, and the person said if I didn't ring them back, they'd take legal action against me... So at work, I quickly looked up the number and came across this site. I called them back from my office phone, and some bloke picked up but barely spoke any English. All he said was "hello hm revenue and customs," and when I asked why they called, he just kept saying "no no no" and then hung up! Honestly, what a nasty scam to put folks through.

I'm based in the UK and got a couple of voicemail from someone called Lisa, claiming to be from HM Revenue. She mentioned I supposedly have a big legal case against me, which sounded fishy. No way am I gonna ring her or any other number she left. Definitely a dodgy scam trying to trick people. - Jean

Just like the other calls I’ve had, this one warned me of a big legal issue from HMRC if I don't ring them straight away. They said the costs would go up if I delay. No names mentioned at all, so it’s clearly a dodgy scam. How come nobody’s put an end to these calls yet???

Someone rang my grandma, she's 82 and suffers from dementia, and told her she’d be taken to court if she didn’t pick up next time. It really upset her, she ended up in tears. They didn’t even leave a number - real cowards. My poor grandma was so confused and terrified because she couldn’t recall any problem or if she’d done anything wrong. What sort of human being tries to frighten an elderly lady like that? Honestly, these people need to be stopped for good.

I got an automated call saying HMRC will take legal action if I don’t ring a certain number. Honestly, don’t call it - it’s definitely a scam! I didn’t ring back myself, but I’m pretty sure the number either charges crazy-high rates or there’s someone on the line fishing for your personal info. It must be really frightening for some folks, which is awful. Like others have said, reporting it helps loads - the more reports, the faster they’ll shut it down.

This morning around 9.30, I got a call from this number saying I had a lawsuit against me. Before, I’ve had calls and messages pretending to be from the Inland Revenue, but they were about owing me a tax refund. I usually don’t pick up if I don’t know the number - I let it go to voicemail and then I use 1471 to check who called. It’s been really useful, especially since I’m retired. Since I started doing that and ignoring unknown numbers, the calls have seriously dropped. I used to get like two or three a day, now it’s maybe three a week if I’m lucky.

Had the same experience, those scammers are just awful and honestly, they deserve to be locked behind bars with no chance of getting out. What worries me most is how easily they could exploit folks who are more vulnerable.

Same here. These calls are really annoying and I think the police or BT really ought to step in and sort this out. Even though we know it’s just scams, it could cause a lot of distress to some of the more vulnerable folks.

Got a troubling call from this number, they said I was facing court action. When I tried calling back, it just rang a few times then said no one was picking up. Should've checked the number online before calling them. People should just ignore and hang up.

Yesterday I got a voicemail that was pretty threatening, said the same stuff everyone else is mentioning. Initially, it freaked me out but then I figured it was just another scam, and a nasty one at that. I really hope they manage to put a stop to these calls because they could really upset people, especially if they ring back and get tricked.

I got an answerphone message saying there’s a court case against me and I need to ring officer Lisa at 0203129829, from some revenue and customs dept. They never actually said my name, just kept talking about "you". It’s obviously a scam, but some people who aren’t careful might fall for it.

I got this automated call supposedly from HMRC warning me about a legal case against me, but they never actually said any names. They kept pushing it like it was some last warning - really trying to freak you out. Classic scam to catch people off guard! What cracked me up was the bit at the end where they said, ‘Have a blessed day!’ Yeah right, I’ll be doing just fine by blowing this off and telling others not to fall for it!

Got a call super early, before I even had my tea, from someone pretending to be HMRC threatening me with legal action. Thought it was just another scam but honestly it freaked me out a bit, and I can see how it might really shake up others. Makes me wonder why they picked my number in the first place.

Being home alone when you get calls like this is honestly quite scary. I got a call just before 9 in the morning, and then another one about three hours afterward, both warning of “serious legal trouble” unless I called back immediately. The lady on the phone said she was from HMRC, which makes me wonder if this sort of thing shouldn't be treated as a criminal offence?

02031298297 left a message that honestly seemed really frightening, especially for older folks who might not be as careful. I’m in my seventies and live alone, so I always use my answerphone to check who’s calling first - pretty grateful for that! I can only imagine how upset some of my friends would be if they got a message like that. It’s just so mean to target people who might be vulnerable.

Got a really scary voicemail saying I was being looked into for big fraud charges. Was told to get in touch with a Sgt Lee by hitting "3" on the phone. I didn’t waste any time and just ended the call right away. The message sounded super professional... someone not so careful might totally fall for it.
