I got a voicemail from 02032862693 today saying there’s some kind of lawsuit against me and that my home is being watched. Didn’t ring back - my money situation’s all sorted and I’m PAYE anyway. What if an elderly or vulnerable person got this message? It’s really awful and should be shut down.

This number rang me up bright and early today (19/6/2018). They claimed there was some legal case against me and that I was being watched. I'm just a teenager, and to be honest, it freaked me out so much I ended up in tears. I genuinely believed I was about to be taken away by the cops.

Got a call from the number 02039605352 with an automated message about an HMRC probe and my house being watched or something similar. When I rang back, the person claimed to be from HMRC's tax refund team. Once I challenged him, he just ended the call. Tried calling a couple more times but couldn’t get through, so I reckon they use some kind of system to change numbers. This sort of scam could really upset and trick vulnerable folks. Not sure if telling the police would do much though.

Got a call from 020 7175 7604 saying I was being watched. Totally a scam.

Just got a call from the number 0203 960 5494 too - same automated voice saying something about my house being watched and tax fraud or something. I rang back and a bloke picked up, telling me I’d done tax fraud and needed to fix it. I asked if my house was actually being monitored, and he said "yeah, right now". I replied, "great, any chance you could close my windows? It’s chucking it down and I’m not back for an hour." He just hung up. Could easily catch out someone who doesn’t know it’s a scam, bit worrying really.

020 3872 2318 rang me today claiming to be from HMRC, saying there’s a legal case against me and my property is being watched, urging me to call them back. Just for a laugh I phoned them back and some bloke answered “Thank you for contacting HMRC” and hung up as soon as I said “you left me a message”. I kept calling a few more times but it just went to voicemail every time, asking me to leave a message. Then, after a few hours, the number was disconnected. It’s mad that no one’s shut these scammers down yet, especially since landline calls should be easy to track!

I reckon this is a firm named Lowell. Looks like they bought some debts and keep hassling folks to pay up. I got automated messages telling me "Your house is under surveillance" - that can’t be legal, surely? I had a problem with TalkTalk and I’m pretty sure they’ve got the wrong debt details. I’ve spoken to them loads, but the calls won’t stop. I’m about to change my phone number.

Had the same call here. A robot woman telling me HMRC’s after me. If they’re really watching my place, why wouldn’t they just come round and knock? Surely they know my address. Also got a call from 02071757940. Just trying to frighten folk into handing over cash. HMRC always sends letters, never does calls like that.

Same thing happened to me today, 6th Feb 2018, from number 0203 807 5587. I tried calling back straight away, just to check what it was about. An Indian gentleman answered and told me, ‘if it’s a weird call, then don’t bother ringing back’ before cutting me off. Trying the number again later just got me no answer. It's awful, especially considering how alarming the voicemail sounded, you can’t help feeling concerned.

When I called back, some Indian bloke said I was in big trouble and should hire a lawyer, then just cut me off. Just got a voicemail that sounded like some old-time radio announcer straight out of the 1940s. The lady was saying something along the lines of, "We have initiated legal action against you, naming you as the main suspect. Your property is currently being monitored. Please don’t ignore this message and call us immediately on 02031297233. Again, 02031297233. Failing to call back soon might result in legal consequences. Thank you." Really hope they can track down where these calls are coming from and take proper action against whoever’s behind it.

I called back this number after they rang me. They claimed I was facing legal action over unpaid taxes. When I told them I was shocked and wasn’t going to share any details, they told me to 'get a lawyer because I'm headed to court.' The use of 'lawyer' was a clear red flag. Still, it was pretty unnerving. I'm definitely going to report them to HMRC.
