Received two repeated calls on my home answering machine today (12th September 2017) while I was at work. I had received the same call about 7 weeks ago, which left me quite upset and anxious. Unfortunately, I couldn't reach out to them as I missed the number when I answered the phone and heard the threatening words of "legal action". But this time, I managed to capture the number and once again, it has caused me a great deal of stress. At the age of 63, with diabetes and blood pressure issues, I really don't need this form of harassment. I'm grateful that I could research the number online and read all the feedback. Thank you to everyone who contributed; it has greatly improved my state of mind.

If I fail to pay my phone bill, my phone can easily be disconnected. So, why can't BT/Open Reach take action to disconnect scammers? These calls are troublesome for everyone and can lead to innocent people falling victim to these thieves. It puzzles me why the authorities aren't doing anything about this issue, especially when they have information about the scammers' identities.

I immediately recognized it as a scam and chose to ignore them. However, the important matter here is that individuals with medical conditions or other vulnerabilities could be seriously affected by such threats of being ARRESTED if they fail to respond! It is utterly perplexing how these malicious individuals can operate without facing any consequences.

I experienced a similar incident, and it's a pity that these individuals engaged in fraudulent activities by impersonating HMRC. It becomes even more concerning as many people would naturally return their calls, assuming it's a legitimate government agency. The initial query they pose is about the caller's phone number. However, when I requested to know whom they intended to speak with, and they couldn't provide an answer, I declined to disclose any further information. It's appalling how they prey on innocent individuals who are just trying to be responsible citizens. The police should definitely take action against them.

I have received disturbing phone calls from an unknown number on both my landline and mobile phones. The caller is making threats, stating that I owe a significant amount of money and that they will send the police to arrest me. They claim to be from HRMC (HM Revenue & Customs). The impact of these calls has been especially difficult for my husband, who is disabled and has experienced palpitations as a result. It is truly distressing considering his already severe heart condition. It is imperative that something is done to put a stop to these individuals.

Today, I received multiple phone calls on my landline from a specific telephone number. The caller left a recorded message on my answering machine, threatening legal action if I did not get in touch with them. Curious, I called the number back using my mobile phone and blocked my own number from being displayed. However, on my first attempt, the call ended abruptly with disconnection. On my second attempt, the phone kept ringing endlessly without anyone picking up.

Got two calls from this number less than an hour apart. It was an automated message telling me to urgently call HMRC about some urgent legal issue and threats of lawyers getting involved. I returned the call and ended up chatting with a bloke who sounded Indian, but he never mentioned his company. I told him I’d gotten a couple of calls from someone saying they were HMRC, then asked straight up if it was them. He said “that’s right” and wanted my phone number. I was getting annoyed by then, and when I spoke a bit louder, he just hung up on me.

I recently received a phone call from the aforementioned number informing me that I was evading taxes and had unpaid dues, both of which are false claims. However, what disturbed me the most was that they were aware of my previous address. This encounter has left me unsettled as it is a unique occurrence for me. I find myself unsure about how to proceed, especially since the caller had an Asian accent.

I received two automated messages on my landline this afternoon. They made a threat to take legal action if I didn't respond promptly. My son listened to the messages and quickly determined that it was a scam. I'm relieved that I didn't reply!

I received a call from a certain number, alleging to represent HMRC. They informed me that I had to provide them with funds within two hours, as an arrest warrant had been issued against me. According to their claims, I owed £5000 in income tax repayments. I was well aware that this was completely impossible, yet it caused me a significant amount of distress. I can't help but wonder how these individuals manage to avoid being caught for such fraudulent activities.

I received two phone calls today. When I returned the first call, they were asking for my name. However, I declined to give it and inquired about the person they were actually looking for. I informed them that the individual doesn't reside at this address, emphasized that we were speaking on a landline, and refused to provide any further details. Later on, they called again after a couple of hours. This time, I answered the call but it turned out to be an automated message. I decided to call them back and express my desire for them to cease contacting me. I intend to report this incident to action fraud.

Yesterday, they called me about three times and today already twice claiming to be from HMRC, saying I need to call them back urgently. I didn’t bother returning the calls and don’t plan to. Best advice - don’t call them back, just ignore and hang up.

So my missus rang this number back and someone with a heavy accent answered, saying we supposedly owe £4000 in taxes we never knew about. They kept threatening that if we didn’t pay £2000 straight away on the phone, the cops would come round to arrest her. Honestly, how daft do they think people are? Best to steer well clear of this one.

Yesterday, I received four phone calls, and today I received another call. Similar to a previous individual's experience, the caller claimed to be from HMRC. I have taken the necessary steps by reaching out to Action Fraud and ICO, as well as registering with TPS. Unfortunately, TPS cannot prevent these calls. If this happens again, I will make sure to record the message and provide it to Action Fraud.

I received multiple phone calls from them, and the first time they rang, I immediately picked up the call and warned them that I was documenting our conversation and planning to inform the authorities about their fraudulent activities. It was incredibly irritating and exasperating. My only wish is that people are cautious enough not to fall prey to this deceitful scheme.

I called back but they wanted someone else. I told them if they keep sending those nasty threatening messages, I’d take legal steps. Hopefully that'll make them think twice.

Definitely not HMRC - blatant lies.
In order to put an end to individuals like these, there should be a proper means of reporting them. Unfortunately, the links provided by Action Fraud are of no use, and both Ofcom and HMRC redirect you back to Action Fraud. It's no surprise that these fraudsters continue to thrive. I am determined to uncover their company information so that I can pursue legal action against them personally.

I received a rather unsettling automated message from a woman's voice that I didn't fully understand. However, the gist of it was that I or my solicitor had to call back before facing potential legal consequences. I chose not to return the call as I strongly suspect it's fraudulent.

I have received three phone calls from this particular number, claiming to be from HMRC. They insisted that both my solicitor and I should urgently contact them regarding a time-sensitive legal matter. In response, I did make an attempt to call them back, intending to inform them of my intent to report their fraudulent behaviour. However, they did not answer! This situation is rather alarming, especially for individuals who may be vulnerable and feel threatened by the prospect of legal action.

I didn't catch the beginning of the recorded message, but it sounded like a woman saying something about “you or your solicitor must get in touch before legal measures are taken.” The tone was really threatening. I’m pretty sure it’s a scam, so I haven’t bothered calling back.

A message was received requesting a call back due to the urgency of the matter at hand. Absolute nonsense. They're attempting to frighten vulnerable individuals into providing money for purported debts or persuading them to buy useless insurance, kitchens, or double glazing.
