Today, I decided to give my elderly parents a ring. Surprisingly, without any hesitation, I knew all the necessary details of their lives like their names, postcode, and complete address. During our conversation, I mentioned that they would be receiving £50 via mail in the upcoming days. However, as I started to ask more inquiries, my mother abruptly ended the call.

It was concerning that this individual possessed my address as well, considering I did not provide them with any personal information at all. Their demeanor grew quite hostile, so to stop the conversation, I decided to abruptly hang up. It's pertinent to mention that I am registered with the Telephone Preference Service.

Total scam. Someone with a strange foreign accent kept asking for Mrs X. Obviously not me, but I played along and asked who they were and what the call was about. Received a late-night phone call from an unknown number, inquiring about someone whose name I didn't catch. After clarifying that they had reached the wrong person, the caller insisted on knowing my name to remove the number from her contact list. I firmly maintained that my name was unnecessary for such a request. However, she became increasingly confrontational, insisting I provide my name. Eventually, I had no choice but to end the call abruptly.

Really difficult to make out what they were saying, not sure if they had a weird accent or were munching while talking. They called me around 9pm tonight and said they were sending a voucher. An absolute nuisance. One option is to answer the call but remain silent. Once they hang up, don't hang up your phone right away. Leave it open for around 30 minutes or as long as you prefer. By doing this, you keep the line engaged and they won't be able to use their phone until you eventually end the call. Best of luck!

Just got a call from this number and let it ring out to voicemail. There was an automated message from a polite sounding woman saying something like "This is a time-sensitive matter. Please don’t ignore this call or legal proceedings may follow." It felt a bit unsettling, but since they never said who they were or gave any real details, I figured it was sketchy. Received a voicemail on my home phone from 0203129687 about an urgent legal issue. When I called back, an American sounding bloke claimed to be from HMRC and said there was a case against me for unpaid taxes. He even threatened that the cops were coming to arrest me. When I challenged him, he got aggressive (not sure how his mum puts up with that kind of language!) and just cut me off. I've reported it to both the police and Action Fraud. Might not achieve much but worth a shot.

i got a call from an unknown number with a threatening recorded message about unpaid taxes and legal action if i didnt respond. when i rang back for more info, the guy claimed to be from hm revenue & customs, saying i owed them money. i told him i thought it was all nonsense, and he told me "well then why dont you just hang up", so i did, but not before warning id be reporting to the police. i then spoke to my phone company who said they knew about this scam and have blocked the number so i wont get any more calls. be careful and dont give out your personal information to these people.
