My mum got a similar call this week. The message didn't actually mention it was from HMRC, yet everything else, right down to the 'please be cautious', was identical, and it genuinely frightened her when another message warned her not to disregard it. Luckily, she had the presence of mind to contact the police. I highly recommend reporting this to Action Fraud, which is managed by the City Police. It's a vile scam, and given how long it's been occurring, it's clear that someone is making money out of it.

Got a voicemail from this number so I rang it back. Some bloke with an accent answered saying it was the "HMRC helpline" and asked how he could assist. This is the second occasion this week where I've had that same robotic message going on about 'urgent matter' and then ending with 'have a great day'. Phone providers ought to block these scam numbers as soon as they're flagged, because this one has been reported loads of times. It’s really distressing, particularly for elderly folks, and whoever runs these calls seriously needs to find something better to do than bothering genuine people and causing them anxiety.

I asked them to stop calling because I was busy with family and friends trying to get back to messages I left. I even blocked a bunch of their numbers but they still kept at it. Proper annoying.

Loads of folks are getting calls from this 0203 number where the person claims to be from TalkTalk’s tech support, asking about your computer. Just a heads up, TalkTalk wouldn’t ring you from a number like this. It’s definitely scammers fishing for your details to pull off some sort of fraud. Stay sharp!

I picked up the phone, but the caller just ended the call right away.
