Got a voicemail from Lisa Williamson this time, using a different number 01226697940. It was all about some supposed lawsuit being taken out by HMRC. I’m sure my taxes are all sorted and paid up properly. This kind of call is just a nasty scam trying to scare people. Best bet is to just ignore it and let HMRC know about these dodgy messages. Really shady and threatening stuff.

Yeah, I got hit with the same thing others have mentioned. Someone named Lisa Williamson kept calling and mentioned some serious legal stuff, even talked about a lawsuit. From what I've seen in messages from others caught up in this, it’s been happening for over a month now. Seems like no one’s done anything to put a stop to these cheaters. :(

Another one has appeared! Purporting to be from HMCR and imposing a pending lawsuit. But I am not foolish enough to fall for it.

I got the same sort of call. Some scammer going on about a big lawsuit that needed urgent attention, saying I had to ring back right away. Proper lowlife trying to scare people like that.

As previously mentioned, it was a hoax call. I'm glad that I had the opportunity to verify the number and confirm that it was indeed a hoax. I was planning to delete it and disregard it as a scam regardless, so I'm grateful for this helpful website.

Got a message from someone called Lisa claiming to be from HMRC about some legal action. Pretty sure it was just a scam or some kind of annoying spam. The call ended weirdly with “have a nice day” - honestly, that was just rude.

Got a call that was really intimidating, claiming there was a big lawsuit filed against me. It’s clearly a scam, but I can see how it would scare older people who live by themselves. I’ve since blocked the number.

Got a voicemail saying I was under investigation by HMRC for something serious and if I didn’t ring back there’d be big problems. I’m retired, all my tax’s paid, and never heard a peep from the tax office before, so I just ignored it. These scammers really have to be put down - they’re preying on people who might be easily scared.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the tax office, saying I was under investigation for something very serious. It was just a recorded message, trying to scare whoever picked up the phone. Complete rubbish, totally a scam. It’s terrible because older folks might get really worried and stressed over nothing. They need to catch these idiots and take legal action for their lies, harassment and annoying behaviour. What I said back was polite but if someone was less calm, it could get ugly.

They called asking for Carol and I decided to mess with them a bit. Told them she only comes around at Christmas time. Not sure if they got the joke or not. Honestly, I just let them chat while I get a bit of free fun. Love to mess about pretending to be a silly old lady, it really keeps them guessing.

A fraudulent caller, claiming to represent HMRC, issued a threat of severe legal consequences if I failed to respond promptly! To add insult to injury, they ended the call with the words "have a blessed day." These deceitful individuals have the potential to terrify vulnerable elderly people who may be living in solitude. It is of utmost importance that this matter is thoroughly investigated. Fortunately, I have recorded their message on my answering machine.

Got a voicemail from some anonymous number warning me about a "legal case" if I didn't ring back. Definitely looked like a scam to me, but I just wanted to double check here. It's awful stuff, could really frighten someone who’s more vulnerable.

Got a call like loads of people, sounded like a robot pretending to be from HMRC. The English was so muddled it was hard to make out what they were saying. Proper scary for anyone not used to this sort of thing. To top it off, they finished with "Good bye and have a nice day" - really added salt to the wound.

There is a distressing scam going around where the scammers pretend to be from the Inland Revenue, claiming that legal action will be taken if a fabricated case or legal claim is not settled by a certain deadline. They may leave voice messages and pretend to have sent written notices as well. These individuals are nothing more than despicable scumbags.

So I’ve got an ex-directory number, right? Then I get a phone call from the very same number! How on earth did someone manage to get hold of it? I struggle with mental health issues, and calls like this could really freak someone out and make them do something rash. Surely HMRC aren’t gonna call you up from an ex-directory number; they’d send a letter if needed!

The message conveyed a sense of urgency, highlighting legal matters that required me to promptly return the call. Received a call today at 12:35, where a pre-recorded message claimed to be from HM Revenue & Customs. The message urged me to contact a provided number immediately, as legal action was imminent. Interestingly, approximately 20 minutes earlier, my in-laws informed me that they had received a similar call from HM Revenue & Customs, instructing them to make contact. It is possible that these calls are connected to premium numbers, although I am not certain. Regardless, such fraudulent calls need to be put to an end.
