Got this call once saying they were from Amazon, so I blocked the number but it was pointless, they just use a different number and ring you again. They’ve called me from all sorts of places in the UK and other countries too. It’s definitely an automated system and the second you pick up it transfers you to some call centre.

They called my naive husband super early (about 8 in the morning) and he actually believed them, thinking I’d ordered an iPhone from Amazon. If he knew a bit more about tech, he might have totally fallen for it and gone as far as downloading the app or handing over passwords! Got a call from a woman with a thick Indian accent saying she was from Amazon, claiming it was a verification call. When I said I didn’t trust them, they said they’d send me an OTP by text. The OTP looked legit at first. Then they asked what phone I was using to shop on Amazon, and I asked why it mattered. They told me I needed to install an app called AnyDesk[###]. DO NOT fall for this! That app lets them control your phone or computer remotely. When I refused, they started being rude and aggressive.

After receiving a call from a gentleman hailing from China, he inquired about a supposed connectivity issue with my Virgin Broadband. Immediately, I became suspicious and realized that it was indeed a scam call.

A lady with an Asian accent, who said her name was Sandy, rang claiming to be from Amazon, checking if I'd made any recent purchases because of some suspicious activity on my account. I picked up and pretended to be an old bloke, saying I was pleased she called since I hadn’t spoken to anyone for ages. She jumped straight into her script about my Amazon account, but I interrupted asking, “Who’s Amazon? Never heard of them, are they a local shop?” She quickly hung up after that. It’s clearly a scam, so don’t fall for it - have a bit of fun winding them up like I did!

Someone called claiming to be from BT billing about a problem with my internet router. After listening for a bit, I told them to jog on since I’m not even a BT customer. Definitely a total scam.

I was contacted by a particular number approximately an hour ago. The person calling, who happened to be a woman with an Indian accent, insisted she was calling from BT Openreach. She claimed that she could assist me in getting a better internet speed for my broadband. Perceiving it to be a potential scam, I decided to terminate the conversation. Interestingly enough, a similar call came in yesterday, but I neglected to check the number at that time, so I'm unable to confirm if it was the same one. However, the content of that call closely resembled today's call, and I could hear background noises indicating it may have originated from a call centre.

We received a call from someone who claimed to be from BT Openreach, expressing concerns about our internet speed. We doubted the authenticity of the call because we are not BT customers. However, the person insisted that they represented all internet providers, but failed to provide information about our specific provider. When I inquired about how they obtained our contact number, they said it was from BT Billing. once again, I emphasized that we are not associated with BT. Eventually, the call abruptly ended.
This incident appears to be a potentially dangerous attempt at phishing.
