Indeed, I’ve just encountered a similar situation myself - the chap was remarkably persuasive. When I opted to end the conversation, stating that I would ring him back (just as he was urging me to download some software to gain access to my computer - Teamviewer, I believe), he introduced himself as John Miller, which felt rather implausible, to say the least. He even provided an ID number - BT8651 - which only added to my suspicion.

I received a call from this number today, the 8th of November. The caller introduced himself as John, which instantly made me a bit wary, especially since he had a distinct Indian accent-something I’ve never encountered in conjunction with that name. He proceeded to grill me about my computer's performance, to which I replied in the negative. When I pressed him for details about his employer, he claimed to be from the BT Technical Department. This, too, struck me as odd, as I had expected a clearer identification associated with BT. He also threw out a reference number, BT8651. I told him I was preoccupied and suggested I would return his call at the number he provided. However, upon noticing the unfamiliar 0203 area code, I did some digging and quickly discovered information online that reinforced my suspicions-it’s most likely a scam.

I received a call from a chap at BT tech support, speaking with a rather pronounced Asian accent. He started rambling about dodgy malware and all sorts of nonsense on my device. I played along with him for a good five minutes before I finally said I was occupied and intended to call him back. At least I managed to tie up a bit of his time, diverting him from harassing someone else for a while!

Received a call purporting to be from BT regarding my internet service, but as I’m not a BT customer, it’s plainly a scam.

This number keeps ringing me a minimum of twice daily, even though I've registered with the preference service! Quite infuriating, to say the least! 😡😡😡🎉

I've received calls from this number daily, sometimes more than once. Not once have I had a response when I answer. We’re registered with the Telephone Preference Service, yet it appears to have no effect on these persistent callers.

I’ve just had a rather tedious experience with a chap called 'Wayne Smith' claiming to be from 'BT headquarters' (allegedly using this number). I managed to keep him on the line for a solid 11 minutes and 55 seconds before I decided to call it quits. I informed him I’d be doing a bit of research on the number he provided and would be conducting my due diligence before I proceeded with the supposed scamming that he was peddling. What a right old farce!

Received a call supposedly from BT today. An Indian gentleman, who went by the name of Steve Mac, claimed there was a problem with my computer regarding file downloads. It all feels like a right scam to me.

Count me in! They’re still causing a ruckus, it seems. This time it was Louis!

I received a call claiming to be from BT, but the blokes sounded distinctly like they were from Mumbai - their accent gave it away! They went on about my internet being sluggish, but honestly, I was so fed up after spending an hour on the phone with them. It was rather tedious. For heaven’s sake, don’t ever allow them to access your computer through TeamViewer - it’s a colossal mistake! And whatever you do, steer clear of disclosing your ID number to these chaps. If you're in doubt about any internet or tech issues, have a chat with someone you genuinely trust - that’s the best course of action.

I’ve just had a rather similar experience. A chap who claimed to be from BT called me up, asserting that there was an issue with my internet and that some nasty malware was being downloaded. He even provided me with an ID number! I decided to say I’d call back, and he went by the name of James (which seemed dubious). He insisted this number was for technical support. The moment I hung up, he rang me again claiming to have been cut off. Quite the dodgy situation!

Just had a rather dubious phone call from someone purporting to be from BT, asserting that my internet security is compromised and that there's a swarm of dodgy software being downloaded. I suggested I’d call back to confirm, and when I probed for his name, he insisted he was John Miller, despite the fact he quite clearly didn’t look the part. Quite suspicious, if you ask me!

Today, I received a rather dubious call from an individual claiming to be representing BT. This person insisted that there were serious issues with my internet connection and alleged that my router was inundated with unwanted files. He urged me to head over to my computer so he could "assist" me further. I made it quite clear that I don’t handle such matters over the phone and suggested I would contact BT myself. He then provided me with a number (02030971846), insisting it was the BT Technical Support line. Everything he said seemed quite credible as he rattled off my so-called 'unique ID' (over 30 digits) along with his name and reference number. Nonetheless, he persisted in trying to convince me to access my laptop. Naturally, I didn’t oblige.

I recently received a call from a chap named Wayne, claiming to represent BT. He informed me that my computer may have been involved in some sort of illegal downloading activities. Quite alarming, to say the least!
