I'm pretty sure this is a scam. I got a message saying someone tried to access my Snapchat. They needed a verification code to get in because it was an unfamiliar device. Then I got a call claiming to be from Snapchat, with a robotic voice saying, "Someone’s logging into your account, if it wasn’t you, enter the verification code followed by the pound key after the tone." Thankfully, I didn’t follow their instructions, especially after reading other people’s comments about them being fraudsters and con artists.

They kept ringing me about ten times last night, trying to charge my account twice on behalf of some company called Aferry Ltd. They claimed there was suspicious activity happening and told me to enter a code supposedly sent by “Lloyd’s bank” - which is indeed my bank - so I could confirm I hadn’t made any payments. The call was from an automated voice pretending to be Lloyd’s. I got in touch with Lloyd’s fraud department, and they said there were two transactions but they weren’t behind those calls. Thankfully, they managed to stop the transactions before anything went through. The number was ‭020 3095 4324‬.

BEWARE! These nasty people pretending to be from Nationwide’s fraud team ring you up claiming your bank card might have been used wrongly. They try to trick you into answering personal security questions and say they’re going to set up a "safe account" for you. The number shows on your phone as an 0800 Nationwide line but it’s a fake! When I told them I’d phone back to check, they got pushy, insisting that they don’t need me to because the number matches the one on the back of my card. They usually start with an automated call from that same number, telling you NW will ring you soon to talk about some suspicious transaction and even give you a code to enter. It sounds legit but it’s a con. Just don’t fall for it and if you’re unsure, call back from a different phone for safety. Stay safe, don’t get caught out by these con artists! - caller ID: Faking Nationwide Bank
