Just received a text from this number a mere thirty seconds back, claiming to be from Orange regarding some sort of 3G upgrade. They referred to it as OranUpgrade. Quite suspicious if you ask me!

What exactly does a scam involve? It seems like the repercussions of getting caught up in one can be quite severe.

I’m curious about when I first flagged this issue. It feels as though they’re simply using an automated system to bombard everyone with these messages. We used to have a similar setup ourselves. Such a swindle!

Just received a rather suspicious text from OranUpgrade at 02030517020, telling me to ring that same number for a complimentary 3G upgrade, with some terms and conditions to boot. This was on my mobile (07817 10x xxx), which I’ve solely used for making calls to the authorities. I’ve never, not once, sent or received a text on this device apart from the standard sms notifications from Orange when I first registered the SIM. It gives the impression that someone is just randomly churning out phone numbers in the hopes of hitting upon a genuine one.

What a relief it was when we decided to pop that number into the search bar! They are clearly still at it! I’m with Orange, but we’ve just had an upgrade, so we’re a bit more cautious now!

Oh, we've experienced that as well - a shiny new 3G update! I'm only 14, and I totally bit the bullet on it, ha! But really, we did have an inkling that it was perhaps a tad too good to be genuine.

I received the exact same message earlier today. It stated, "Dear customer, you are eligible for a FREE 3G Upgrade. Both PAYG and contract customers are invited. To claim your upgrade, please call 02030517020. Offer ends on 22nd January. Terms and conditions apply." Quite the dubious offer, if you ask me!

We've just received a text message that was exactly the same, but this time from a different number: 02070844318.

I received a text from a mobile number that looks like a marketing tactic from some telecom company. They're masquerading as Orange in their messages, trying to drum up business. Quite dodgy, if you ask me!

In the last half an hour, we've received six texts from these folks, and after phoning them to "unsubscribe," we've still been bombarded with two more messages. Any tips on how to properly block them?

Could someone clarify what this scam actually involves? Additionally, what are the repercussions if someone gets caught up in it?

Received a call today that raised a few red flags. It was a bit dodgy, if you ask me. They mentioned that their offers were expiring by tomorrow. Quite the clever ploy to rush the unsuspecting into responding hastily without giving it proper thought!

I can't believe this, but someone shot a text to our mate on a number that used to belong to me. What a daft thing to do! He's never been with Orange in his life! Honestly, tell them to take a hike. She used to be with Blyk, of all things. They’re all in on it. Can’t we do something about this? Maybe report it to the bobbies?

Received a text earlier today and thought it seemed a bit dodgy, so we decided to check online before anything else! Turns out we were right to be cautious! 😂

Received the exact same message as mentioned previously. Did a quick search online and landed on this site. It's clear we won't be giving them a call. Seems rather suspicious if you ask me!

Absolutely, this number 02070844317 appears to be dodgy. Best to steer clear of it.

They’re looking to offer us a pay-as-you-go 3G deal.

Just received a call from 02030517020 about half an hour after I logged into the mynokia site using my mobile number as a username. I hadn’t accessed it in weeks, and then this happens right after! Feels rather suspicious, almost like there’s some dodgy business going down with Nokia. Quite unsettling, to say the least.

Absolutely, this was a scam, and to clarify, it wasn't associated with Orange. It's quite probable that these individuals acquired your number through some random number generator. I've been with Vodafone for eight years myself, and we experienced a similar situation where they attempted to get you to call an overpriced international number that led to a call centre in India. Just eliminate the message altogether!

I recently received a call from this number. At first, it seemed a bit shady, so I thought it best to investigate a bit before proceeding. Lo and behold, it turns out to be a scam!

I received the same text message and decided to give them a ring to uncover what was going on. The chap on the other end wanted me to confirm my mobile number and then asked me to spell my name out loud! It’s rather odd, isn’t it? Why on Earth would anyone from Orange need an existing customer to do that? It’s blatantly obvious this is a scam.

We suspected it might be a scam, so we thought it prudent to investigate and figure out what was really going on.

Oh, we experienced that as well, the fresh 3G update. At just 14, I totally got swept up in the excitement of it all, AHHAA! But honestly, we all know deep down that it sounds almost too fabulous to be real.
