00442030513739 This chap attempted to engage with the main user of the computer at our home, claiming he was from Microsoft. When pressed for more details, he spun quite the yarn. I decided to impart some prudent advice regarding life choices. Shortly after, he rang again within a couple of minutes, and all I could hear was him mumbling "hello, hello" in the same tone. For the past several days, our landline has been inundated with calls from these persistent individuals, often cutting the line just as we pick up. When they do decide to speak, they try to bamboozle us into believing there are issues with our computer, claiming to be Windows technicians ready to assist with supposed error messages they've encountered. We've told them repeatedly to stop calling, as we haven't had a home computer for years! Is there any avenue for lodging a complaint against these calls?

I got a call from this number and the bloke on the other end spoke with a noticeable Indian accent. He was trying to get me to advertise my courses for free on some site called hotcourses.com. He asked me to confirm my email and then wanted my bank details, saying they'd pay me via BACS for any bookings from students. At first it sounded alright, but I thought I'd better check this number out before giving any info. Just as I was about to enter my bank details, the call abruptly ended. He rang me back a bit later, but I chose to ignore it. Then I got another call from a blocked number, which I also didn’t pick up.

This number kept ringing me too. I live in Kyrgyzstan, which is in Central Asia. The guy on the other end was asking about the Work and Travel programme and tried to get my social security number, but I didn’t give it out. Weird thing is, he called my mates as well. How he got hold of my phone number is a complete mystery. I’ve heard this number’s also been ringing people in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Russia.

On 30th May 2012, I got a call from someone who claimed a certain name, which I’m pretty sure was made up. I've had similar calls before, but those didn't show any number on my phone. Both times I picked up, there was a man speaking with a German accent - the last time it was only faint though. The caller addressed me by my husband’s name and sounded like they knew him, very casual. They said they were ringing from Microsoft because of some alerts from my computer (which seems totally off to me - why would Microsoft call about that?). I asked which computer they meant, and when I mentioned having more than one, he seemed confused that he didn’t know which. Right after that, the line went dead. I looked the number up online and reached out to the service provider it supposedly came from. They quickly got back to me and confirmed this number isn’t legit at all.
