Following a rather lengthy pause, the individual on the other end announced himself as an energy consultant, claiming to have information about my antiquated loft insulation. At that juncture, I couldn’t help but question the validity of his statements, and while he began to formulate a response, I chose to terminate the call instead. I reside on the second floor of a purpose-built flat boasting a flat roof, so I found his comments rather perplexing. Fast forward to today...

I received an automated message at first that then cut out, followed by a man’s voice claiming to be my local energy advisor. It’s the same old insulation con, attempting to gain entry to my home and gather personal information. I can assure you, there’s no legitimate title of “your area energy advisor.” I promptly hung up and blocked the number. This isn’t the first time I’ve had calls from various 020 numbers like this.

When I tried to chime in, their replies were rather unusual, almost as though they were sticking to a script that mentioned something about poor roof insulation.
