I terrified my 82-year-old dad by accusing him of committing fraud, which is completely unfounded. He’s done nothing wrong, but it really shook him up.

Got a recorded call claiming to be from HMRC saying there’s a lawsuit being filed against me and to hit 1 for more info. Rang HMRC myself and found out it’s a fraud. Just ignore it, folks.

I got a call from a guy who said he was from the Inland Revenue, telling me I had to cough up two grand straight away or they’d send a cop round to cuff me. Sounds a lot like threatening me for cash, if you ask me. I just told him, “Get lost, you bloody liar,” and he hung up right away.

My dad, who suffers from dementia, got a call from this number and they were telling him he’d be arrested. He’s been through enough with MRC before, had a couple of big issues, so it really distressed him. Someone has to put an end to this.

Got a voicemail from some recorded voice about an HMRC investigation. Sounded proper official but felt dodgy to me. Anyone else gotten the same?

I got a recorded call supposedly from HM Revenue saying there's some lawsuit over unpaid tax and to 'press 1' to talk to an officer. It really freaked me out at first but after I looked up this trick online, realised it’s definitely a scam. This kind of thing is seriously nasty and could cause a lot of stress, especially for older folks or those who wouldn’t know any better. Something needs to be done to stop it as it's just cruel to take advantage of good, honest people like this.

My ten-year-old lad picked up the phone and was quite startled by an automated voice claiming some sort of legal action was being pursued against us. By the time I managed to grab the phone, the line had gone silent. I promptly looked up the number and, suspecting it was a dodgy call, noted that it was rather early in the morning for any legitimate HMRC business. They’re more likely to send a letter than to employ robocalls at half-past eight! It's quite infuriating, really.

I got a call similar to what others mentioned, but when I hit 1, this guy who sounded Asian came on the line and said there was a warrant for my arrest. I said something back to him, and he just slammed the phone down. I told the police about it and they said they’d look into it.

Oh, they say to press 1 to get through to a caseworker at HMRC, do they? Quite amusing, really!

I received a message on my voicemail claiming to be from HMRC, stating that they're launching legal action against me. They instructed me to press 1 to connect with my Case Manager, which I absolutely refused to do! This makes the third time I’ve had this message, and I didn’t bother to check the caller ID on the first two.

Got a recorded call claiming HMRC is looking into my case. It said to press 1 if I want to chat with an investigator. Definitely sounded dodgy to me.
