I got a call almost exactly like the one mentioned here. It was an automated voice saying it was HMRC and threatening some claim against me. They told me to press 1 if I wanted to speak to my case manager. I just ended the call straight away. I’ve no problems with HMRC, and I’m not employed anymore, so there’s no way I owe them anything. I can see how this kind of thing would scare folks though. Stay sharp out there!

Got a scary robocall saying it was from HMRC threatening to sue me. They told me to press 1 to talk to my case officer but I just ended the call. Just to be clear, I haven’t had any letters from HMRC and my PAYE stuff is all sorted. It felt like a really nasty bother meant to scare someone, probably trying to trick vulnerable people out of their cash.
