Despite many targets being registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), calls continue relentlessly at various times, including evenings, often ending abruptly or featuring silence. Callers sometimes identify as representatives from purported law firms or claims companies, seeking personal details for alleged compensation claims. Attempts to obtain authentic contact details are met with evasiveness or hang-ups. Multiple complainants describe distress, especially among elderly recipients, and frustration at insufficient governmental action. It is strongly advised not to engage or share any information, to block the number, and report such calls to relevant authorities to mitigate potential fraud and harassment.

I received a call from the same number, and it was about an incident involving a family member of my husband's. When he heard it was concerning an accident, he casually asked if there were any funds owed, saying they could send it over if that was the case. The caller proceeded to ask for specifics regarding the accident. My husband replied, "You're the one calling me with this information, so surely you must have all the details." At that point, the caller abruptly ended the conversation.

I've received quite a few calls lately that just go silent when I answer, and my voicemail picks them up. I'm pretty sure they’re just those pesky cold callers.

I’ve been getting calls from this number as well. It’s clearly a sales pitch, considering that all my contacts reach me on my mobile. I haven’t shared my landline with a soul!

Even though we’ve signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, these nuisances persist in calling us, often right when we're about to enjoy our dinner or unwind for the night. Honestly, I’ve lost track of how many times we've asked them to leave us alone. It's infuriating!

Seemed like a proper landline call at first glance. It was a recorded announcement featuring an English voice that had an authentic ring to it initially, yet then it abruptly halted. Clearly, it's just another annoying cold caller out to bait unsuspecting souls.

A couple of numpties rang me up on Tuesday at precisely 1:38 in the afternoon, completely disrupting what I was doing. They rambled on about some ridiculous supposed car accident. I told them to clear off and ended the call. It was the second time I’ve received such a daft call in just a week! Clearly, it's a scam. It baffles me why the UK government and BT haven’t taken steps to put an end to these nuisance calls. I can only imagine how many people find such interruptions distressing.

Honestly, something really needs addressing with these incessant callers; it feels like we get bothered by them almost daily, and sometimes it’s well past 8 in the evening! It’s high time the authorities stepped up to safeguard ordinary folks like us instead of just catering to the interests of big businesses.

What a complete nuisance! It's absolutely outrageous that such bothersome individuals can interrupt the peace of diligent folks just trying to unwind.

I completely concur with what's been mentioned previously. Despite being registered on the telephone preference service, unwanted calls keep coming through. Just today, I received a call from this number.

I’ve just received a call from this number. True to my usual practice with unfamiliar digits, I answered but stayed silent, letting them make the first move. However, no one said a word, and after a while, the line went silent-such a letdown! I was really in the mood to mess with a scammer today!

It’s utterly maddening when you pick up the phone and it’s dead air on the other end. Surely, there should be some way to just cut off these annoying numbers? They’re clearly just here to frustrate us!

Received a call earlier, picked up the phone but there was complete silence on the other end, so I hung up. I then dialled 1471, and to my surprise, this number popped up. It's clearly a dodgy operation!

I've received the same call not once but twice within just thirty minutes! It's reminiscent of that unfortunate car accident I've been involved in. Honestly, my choice of words might land me in hot water.

I answered the call and lingered for a moment, only to be greeted by what appeared to be a pre-recorded message that chirped, "Hello, how's it going?"

I chose to disregard it and simply left the receiver off the hook until the line cut out.

I’m absolutely fed up with the incessant calls I keep receiving, likely linked to that imaginary car crash I supposedly had-not that I’ve ever been in one! It seems like I’m always dealing with some Asian bloke or lady on the other end, but quite often, there’s just silence. Honestly, it’s making me contemplate tossing my phone in the bin! The number of nuisance callers is utterly ridiculous-be it about flimsy solar panel deals, dodgy PPI claims, housewarming invitations, or annoying customer surveys. And don’t even get me started on those so-called holiday competitions that I've never even entered! It’s high time there should be a sweeping prohibition on these annoying telemarketers. I’ve already taken the liberty of blocking all those withheld or unrecognised numbers!

I've just received a phone call from the same number, and the caller, with an Asian accent, claimed to be from the NATIONWIDE ADVICE BUREAU. They even knew my name, which made me rather uneasy, so I promptly hung up. Earlier, I had conducted a significant transaction with Nationwide, leaving me in a state of concern. I decided to ring up Nationwide's head office to verify everything, and thankfully, they assured me that there had been no suspicious activity on my account or credit card. I attempted to return the call to the 0199 number, but it seems to be out of service. Honestly, it struck me as a rather shoddy scam. I wouldn't stress too much about it, just make sure you divulge absolutely nothing to them.

This afternoon I received a rather bothersome call from a company claiming to represent Nationwide Advice. What struck me as particularly unsettling was their awareness of my husband’s recent accident. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I’m not entirely convinced this was their genuine number, seeing as they decided to keep it private like a bunch of cowards. An American woman rang me up claiming to be from the National Advice Bureau, spouting nonsense about someone in my household being involved in an accident. I straight away called her bluff and reminded her that we're registered with TPS. I ended up raising my voice in frustration. We’ve got a phone that can block calls, but if they’re withheld, there's not a lot you can do apart from ignore it. And international calls? No clue how to block those, though I’ve heard BT might be rolling out a solution soon. It’s a right pickle, especially since my brother has to keep his number private due to persistent nuisance calls, so avoiding picking up isn't really an option for me!

Today, I received a rather unsettling phone call from the number mentioned above (16th May 2014). A chap with a pronounced Indian accent introduced himself as being from the National Advice Line, and proceeded to assert that "based on your address, it appears you've recently been involved in a car accident". When he requested I verify my name, I chose not to, but astonishingly, he already knew it. I firmly informed him that I had never been in such an incident and promptly ended the call. We've been having a right nuisance with these calls at home; the phone seems to ring off the hook one line after another! I had a chat with them previously, and they were inquiring about my late grandfather, promising they'd take our numbers off their list. Yet, here we are a month later, and they're back at it, but now they're asking for me directly. I haven't been involved in any mishaps, mind you. I even signed up with the Telephone Preference Service! Today alone, we've had four calls across both lines - what a palaver! It's the 29th of April, 2014, and I'm utterly fed up!

Saturday - 10:48, 26th April 2014: I received a call from a chap named 'Stephen', who had a pronounced Indian accent. He claimed to be calling from the "National Bureau" and, oddly enough, referred to me by my name, mentioning an incident involving an accident in our household from the past three years (which is completely untrue). I inquired about their contact number since they had our information. He was rather evasive and insisted on verifying the details about the supposed accident before disclosing the number. This back-and-forth happened three times-me asking for their contact details, and him looping back to the accident claim. I never got the chance to mention that we're registered with the Telephone Preference Service. After my third attempt to retrieve the number, he abruptly ended the call. I then dialled 1471 to obtain his number, but when I tried to ring back, I was met with a recorded message stating, "this number is not in use."

I’ve just received yet another so-called ‘accident’ call, and I must admit, my patience is wearing thin. It’s becoming rather tiresome, to be honest. These intrusive calls-particularly those dodgy ones promising complimentary central heating boilers as part of some government initiative-are truly aggravating. It seems that being registered with the TPS (Telephone Preference Service) holds no weight with these individuals. I’m now keeping a close watch on them; it’s high time something was done about these persistent nuisances!

I received a call from a gentleman who had a rather pronounced Indian accent, claiming he was representing Nationwide Advice Bureau. I had my doubts about his legitimacy, so I decided to end the conversation and hang up.

That number called me once more this morning. I've already put it on my block list, so my phone indicates that it’s a blocked caller. Oddly enough, it also displayed 'international' alongside the number. It appears that the call is being forwarded from India, but the area code is 01997, which is actually linked to a region in Scotland. Quite the peculiar setup, if you ask me!

I kindly urge you to put an end to this number’s incessant silent calls. It’s becoming rather tiresome!

I received a call earlier today from a chap with a thick accent, inquiring about my stepfather. He addressed him by name and referred to him as "Mr. ********." Upon my reply of "No," he promptly hung up without a word. There's been no follow-up, and I didn’t get a chance to leave a message or anything of that sort. It’s infuriating! The reason we’re inundated with these dodgy calls is that banks, credit card firms, and insurers peddle our personal information like it’s a commodity, all in the pursuit of easy profits. That sort of behaviour should absolutely be outlawed!

I received another call from this number earlier today. It was the same chap with an Asian accent, keen to chat about some supposed accident. I repeatedly informed him that nobody in this household has experienced such a thing, yet lo and behold, he rings back! It feels like such a pointless use of our time. Why on earth isn't there a way to revoke their business licence? Cheers, Chris from Kent

Someone rang my husband’s phone, but when I picked up, I pretended to be from a solicitors' office and asked for his address. He quickly ended the call! 😄

I had a rather tenacious chap on the line, sounded like he was from India. Every time I hung up, he was straight back on the phone! Quite relentless, I must say.

I've been getting an array of calls from this number-always from a chap with an Indian accent. I’ve mentioned repeatedly that we haven't been involved in any accidents, yet he still persists in ringing. Quite frustrating, to say the least!

I received a call from a man with a distinctly mature Asian accent claiming he was with a 'law firm' and specifically inquiring about me by name. Thankfully, he didn't get any further as I recognised the number immediately; I've dealt with them previously. They seem to be up to some dodgy business, trying to convince you that you've been in a car accident in order to facilitate a compensation claim. Sounds an awful lot like insurance fraud if you ask me - definitely something for the insurance fraud hotline to keep tabs on!

I've just received a call from this number, and an Indian-accented voice mentioned they weren’t interested. This week alone, I've had a string of calls where no one seems to respond. I’m registered with the Telephone Preference Service, so this is rather frustrating!

This number keeps calling me incessantly, even after I've made it clear that I want nothing to do with them. How frustrating!

My grandparents have been bombarded with calls from this number, and it’s really upsetting for them, especially being in their later years. Despite being on the Telephone Preference Service, it seems these pestering calls keep coming every day. They’re always from someone claiming to assist with a supposed accident, which is utterly baffling as they’ve never been in one! My nan has repeatedly informed them there’s been no such incident, yet they persist!

Absolutely nothing on the other end-just dead air before it disconnected. I attempted to call again, only to be informed that the number isn’t operational. How peculiar!

I've received numerous calls from this number lately. An Indian chap on the other end became rather aggressive, threatening that he was aware of my address and intended to come after us because we declined to pursue a claim for an accident we were involved in.

I just received a rather dubious phone call from a gentleman speaking with an Indian accent, who claimed to work as an Accident Investigator for Claims Direct in Manchester. He insisted I’d been involved in an accident within the last three years and that I was entitled to £2000. What a load of nonsense! He couldn’t provide any specifics about the supposed incident-even my car's registration or model was beyond him. I strongly advise you to refrain from sharing any personal details. Instead, try telling them, “I’m with the Fraud Department of the Police, and I’ll be looking into this matter tomorrow.” It’ll be interesting to see how they respond! 😊

Today, on the 31st of March 2014, I received a call at precisely 14:01. The moment I picked up, the caller abruptly ended the call without uttering a word. I decided to return the call, but to my dismay, I was informed that the number was "not in service." Quite odd, wouldn't you agree?

Received a call this morning, around 9:10 am, from a bloke with a thick foreign accent, right on my day off! It’s utterly infuriating, especially since I’m registered on the Telephone Preference Service-clearly it’s not doing its job! I couldn’t make head or tail of what he was on about and when I asked how he got my number, he just hung up! It’s high time action is taken against these nuisance calls!

I recently received a call from this number and made it quite clear that I don’t wish to be contacted, given that I’m on the Telephone Preference Service register. I insisted they take my number off their list and then promptly lodged a complaint with TPS. Fingers crossed, this will put an end to their persistent ringing!

Received a call today from someone claiming to be a solicitor, inquiring about a car accident related to our home over the past three years. The chap had an Asian accent and introduced himself as Fred. My husband didn’t hold back - he firmly told him to clear off! Quite the laugh, really!

My mother-in-law, who is on the Telephone Preference Service list due to her profound hearing issues, received an unsolicited call from this number. My wife answered the phone, and the caller-a woman with a foreign accent-was probing about a road accident. However, when asked how she got hold of our number, the caller abruptly ended the conversation. It’s quite upsetting, especially for someone of her age, particularly a 92-year-old who has never had a driving licence!

I had a call on my landline just before 6 o'clock this evening, 26th March, which I decided to pass on. I then looked up the number using 1471 and did a quick online search. I'm relieved I chose not to answer, and sincerely hope action is taken against these nuisance calls. Honestly, it feels a bit pointless to even keep a fixed line these days!

I received a call where the person insisted I verify my name. I wasn’t having any of it and asked for their identity instead, to which they promptly hung up. It's not the first time I've had similar calls claiming they were related to some supposed car accident, but I’ve never been in one. I’m really not interested in being bothered by these chaps again.

I've received a surprising ten calls from this number recently. They keep inquiring about a car crash that supposedly took place over the past two years. When I asked for details about the location of the incident, the chap on the other end-sounded like he was from India-just hung up on me. Quite the unusual experience, to say the least!

I can't quite wrap my head around why the police aren’t taking a closer look at this situation. They seem to be saying that sharing personal phone numbers could be a violation of the Data Protection Act. Surely, if that's the case, they ought to be doing something about it instead of just letting it slide. It feels a bit off, doesn’t it?

I got a call today from a lady speaking with what seemed to be an Asian accent. When I probed further, she claimed to be ringing from Claims Direct. She inquired if I had experienced a minor accident. Naturally, I was curious as to why she would want to know, and she replied it was merely a routine verification call. I pressed her on when this supposed accident occurred, and her response was that I should already be aware of that. I countered, suggesting that if she was indeed part of this business, she ought to have that information, or was she just randomly selecting numbers from the directory to contact? Interestingly, I had a similar call a few days back from a gentleman, also with an Asian accent, probing about an accident he said occurred within the last two years. Honestly, I can't recall any such incident in that timeframe. Nonetheless, it was a refreshing change from the usual incessant chatter about new boilers and kitchen scrappage schemes!

Today, I received a call from a woman with a foreign accent inquiring about an accident I supposedly had within the past three years. Naturally, I asked her how she got my information and if she was affiliated with my insurance company. She replied that she wasn't. I then brought up the telephone preference service, and without a moment's hesitation, she abruptly hung up on me. Quite inconsiderate and frustrating, if you ask me!

I've received calls from this number three times today, and I'm absolutely fuming! It's beyond irritating to be harassed by these con artists day in and day out, particularly since we're on the Telephone Preference Service list. The chap on the line had a very pronounced Indian accent and pretended to be from Claims Direct. When I quizzed him about where he was calling from, he nonsensically said 'Manchester'. I'm left wondering, where on earth are they actually calling from and who are these people?

Received a similar call, didn’t I? I’m on the Telephone Preference Service too. This must be the third or fourth time I’ve heard from this lot in a fortnight. The chap on the other end had a thick Asian accent. It was unnerving, really, as he seemed to know the names of my family members! He claimed that a relative had lodged a claim and was entitled to some funds. I decided to humour him for a spell, then put on a bit of Indian music from my laptop just for kicks. I got him to repeat “Vednesday” four times, along with “Vhen” and “Vhy.” Eventually, he lost his temper and called me a “f***ing time vaster.” I couldn’t help myself and burst out laughing, saying, “No, it’s time-waster, not vaster!” That really set him off; he unleashed a torrent of insults!
