Gate Keeper Estate Agency seems to be employing a rather curious tactic of dialing random numbers in an attempt to identify who's on the other end. Quite the unconventional strategy, if you ask me.

I could instantly tell it was a call centre as soon as the chap said "Hello" and mispronounced my name. So, I decided to have a bit of fun and pretended he was an old mate, bombarding him with questions about his family and whether he'd bumped into Jeff recently. I didn’t let him get a single word out, and before long, he hung up. Clearly, just another scam artist!

I received a phone call that claimed to be from Microsoft, stating that my device had been compromised. This lady had previously sent me a message which I hadn't acknowledged. When I probed about how this message was conveyed, she insisted that I should power up my computer for her to demonstrate. I inquired if she was familiar with the saying, "What’s done in the dark will come to light", but it seemed that was beyond her comprehension. She was rather reluctant to veer off topic and just kept urging me to switch on my device. When I mentioned that she might benefit from reading the Bible—God’s guidance to humanity—she began to get a bit agitated, insisting more forcefully that I should turn on my computer. At that point, I decided it was best to hang up.

On the 3rd of February 2022, my wife received a rather alarming six calls from this number. The caller asserted he was from Microsoft, stating they’d sent messages our way, yet he claimed he wasn’t trying to sell anything. To make matters worse, he actually knew her name, which completely unsettled her. She described his tone as rather menacing and mentioned that he had this distinctive American street slang. At one point, he rang her back using an "02" number. Then, I got a sixth call at 11:42 am, and it was a woman speaking French! She didn’t stay on the line for long before hanging up.
