I received a call from this dodgy individual who had a notably pronounced Asian accent. To be honest, I struggled to grasp what he was saying due to his rather poor command of English, compounded by the ruckus in the background. All I could gather was he was rambling on about PPI.

I received a rather dodgy call from a lady sporting a British accent, claiming to be from the Tax Office. She mentioned something about needing to reimburse me for overpaid taxes and requested my bank details for the transfer. When I mentioned I didn’t have my banking info to hand, she quickly switched gears and said she could mail a cheque instead. It quite clearly sounded like a scam to me!

I found out this phone number belongs to Gamma Holdings Ltd, but right now it's being used by some scammer based in Witney. I wouldn’t bother answering any calls from it, and if you see it pop up on your phone, best to just block it for good.

They called asking for someone who’d apparently died recently. It was clear it was one of those scam call centres because they hung up straight away when I told them the person they were after was in a graveyard.

Got a call from a bloke with a foreign accent. When I asked who it was, he just hung up on me. Said a name that wasn’t mine, so probably a wrong number or something. Weird!

On the 14th of January at about 6.20, I got a call from a woman with a thick foreign accent talking mumbling about some PPI thing. I told her I had no clue what she was on about and quickly figured it was a scam. She hung up pretty sharpish after that. Funny thing is, the number showed as being from the Witney area, which makes me wonder why it’s still active. Surely OFTEL should be stepping in to stop this nonsense? Are they really turning a blind eye to these calls?

I got a call from a woman with a really thick accent, and you could tell she was in some busy call centre with loads of background noise. She asked if I was Mrs so-and-so and then suddenly said ‘congratulations’. When I asked her what for, she just hung up straight away. Definitely seemed like one of those scam calls.

I got a call the other day from what sounded like one of those call centres, saying they could help me get tax back on PPI 2 or something. Felt fishy right away, so I pretended to be interested and started asking the bloke loads of questions about himself - like his age, what he earns, all that. Didn’t take him long to cut the call! Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.

They asked if I was the person they wanted, then just hung up. They knew my exact name though, and you could hear what sounded like a noisy call centre somewhere abroad because of the accent.

Got a call from someone saying they were with HMRC and that I owed tax on a PPI claim I supposedly made. Thing is, I never made any such claim. When I mentioned that the person they were after had actually died just last week, they just hung up. Total scam!

I received a rather puzzling call earlier today. The first time around, it was a woman with a thick accent who struggled to articulate her words in English; it was challenging to grasp what she was on about. I ended up telling her she had dialled the wrong number before hanging up. Fast forward to today, and a gentleman with similarly limited English proficiency decided to ring me up, asking for a certain Mrs XYZ. I promptly informed him that I’m a Miss and requested he remove my details from his list, as he clearly hasn’t a clue who he’s trying to contact. I've now blocked the number.

Received a rather dodgy call from this number earlier today (14th January 2022, around 7:45 PM). The person on the other end claimed they were retrieving some PPI tax percentage from HMRC on my behalf. Their accent struck me as perhaps Indian, and I could hear the unmistakable buzz of a call centre in the background. They requested that I verify my postcode, to which I responded with a firm “I suspect you might be up to no good” before promptly disconnecting the line. Seemed a bit fishy, didn’t it?
