When I asked her for the model details of our machine, she kept going round in circles and couldn’t give a straight answer. Then, when I requested the company's name, she just babbled nonsense and suddenly cut off the call. Feels like it was probably a scam in the making.

I received a call from the firm that provides insurance for my washing machine. They were offering a deal for two years of coverage for the price of one. Yet, the chap on the line claimed he would ring me back using a password, and then wanted the initial digits of my bank card. I firmly declined that request. He questioned how it differed from making an online purchase. He insisted he’d only require a portion of the number and not the full detail, but I stuck to my guns, explaining it wasn’t appropriate as I hadn’t initiated the call. His temper flared when I wouldn’t relent, and he huffed about me missing out on the offer before hanging up.
