Someone rang from this number saying there was an issue with our internet. My husband hung up straight away cos he knew it was dodgy.

I've encountered this rather irritable chap from India on a few occasions. Earlier today, he got quite aggressive, and it sounded like he had our conversation on loudspeaker for the entertainment of his colleagues in the call centre. Kudos for passing the call over to BT; I wish I had the savvy to do that myself. It's a shame BT hasn’t managed to shut down those operations yet.

Had the exact same issue - total scam. When he told me to switch on my computer, I asked how to do it and what the round thing with a cable on my desk was. He said it was a mouse, so I joked, "Should I get a mousetrap then?" I just kept messing about with this absolute muppet until he finally gave up and hung up after nearly 10 minutes. Felt so good to frustrate him like that :-)

Had a call this afternoon from someone saying they were with BT Internet. They claimed our internet had to be turned off for about a week because our computers were catching viruses every time we went on Twitter, Facebook, Amazon and the like. I didn’t bother listening any further - it was obvious a scam - and just hung up straightaway. The call came from 01985 74962.

Whenever I get those calls in a foreign accent telling me my computer is having issues, I just make up reasons for them to keep talking till they give up and hang up. Seems like I get way fewer of those calls these days. Maybe you should try it too.

I got a call from an Indian lady claiming she was calling from BT about an internet issue. My partner told her to stop calling, saying it was a scam and not to believe her, then ended the call. She rang straight back, insisting it was real and that Amazon had been compromised, causing loads of trouble. My partner again said it was a con and hung up. I later rang Amazon myself, spoke to a rep who said there were no problems at all and that it was definitely a scam.

Got a call from this number earlier today. Some bloke with an Indian accent claimed my PC was downloading stuff and told me to open my browser and enter some numbers. I said I done it (lied) but nothing showed up. I told him maybe my internet was acting up, and he said that’s why he’s calling me. I fired back with, “Maybe it’s because I don’t even have broadband, mate.” He just hung up after that.

I received two calls within just a ten-minute span, claiming that my internet had been compromised. I managed to connect with BT CHAT and was relaying the conversation to her. After that, I dialled 1471 to find out the number, which turned out to be 0198574962, and I reported it to BT. Not too shabby for a 79-year-old, eh? 😂

This number has rung me 4 times within the hour. Twice it was a bloke called Robin Watson, then twice a lady answering, both saying they were with BT. When my hubby grabbed the phone off my grandma and told them we’d report it to the police, they just hung up.

Guy with an accent, sounded like he might be from India, hard to catch what he was saying. He claimed to be from BT and mentioned there were issues with my router being turned off because of suspicious activity like viruses or faulty software, and said he could get a team to fix it. I've had calls from scammers who speak with Asian accents but use really typical British names. They say the exact same thing as everyone else - something about BT internet and your connection being cut off for ten days. You can hear loads of noisy people in the background from their call centre, all repeating the same story to others. Seriously, don’t let them access your computer or share any info. If you accidentally pick up, just hang up straight away and make sure to block the number!

Not long after, a lady rang me and when I told her I wasn’t going to log in, she just put the phone down.

Got a call today like the one here, where the person said they were from BT and said my neighbour had internet issues. They used a browser tool called Validator and then somehow took control of their computer remotely. It's been pretty awful for them, now having to sort out cancelled bank cards and everything. My neighbour is really shaken up by it all.

Got a call claiming to be from BT about my broadband. Totally a con. I hung up straight away when I heard an Indian accent trying to charm me by asking how I was. Also, there’s been calls from this number saying they can help struggling folks with gas boiler replacements - they left loads of voicemails every day for weeks, but luckily that seems to have stopped now. He told me my IP address was hacked and that’s why my internet had been playing up (weird, cos it actually went down yesterday). A bloke called himself Kevin Parker, said he worked at BT with some employee number BT11121. He told me there was some issue with my internet, claimed someone was using it for dodgy stuff. Said it was a hacker doing something illegal on my connection. I asked if I could ring him back, he gave me 02032876213, but actually rang me from that number when I checked with 1471. He also asked if I was at my computer so he could guide me through it. Obviously I wasn’t, so I just hung up.

Tried to block this number in my blacklist today (29.3.2017) but BTS call protect didnt even accept it as a legit phone number, must be from some foreign scammer or something.

Just like the comment from today (29.3.2017), a bloke called “andy martin” rang me with an Indian sounding accent, claiming to be from BT. He wanted me to log onto my computer. I asked him for his phone number to ring back as I suspected it was a scam - he said nothing. I’ve emailed BT with all the info.

i tried blocking this number on bts call protect today (29/3/2017) but it didnt recognise it as a valid number, so im guessing its from some sort of international scammer.
