Today I got a call from someone claiming my internet was compromised. Feeling a bit cheeky, I decided to have a bit of fun with them. The bloke, speaking with a thick accent, asked if I’d been online between 8 and 9 in the evening. He was all serious about some hacking going on with my broadband. Knowing exactly what scheme this was, I faked typing on a keyboard whilst he insisted on taking over my computer. He asked me to read out what appeared on the screen, so I made up some nonsense in a proper Cockney tone. After a while, he just hung up.

They kept saying they'd cut off my service if I didn’t call back, which sounded like complete rubbish to me. I just ended the call quickly to avoid getting pulled in.

I picked up my landline, but instead of a person, I was met with a rather irritating automated "goodbye". Utterly frustrating, I must say!

Got a call from 01957 496719, but the bloke wouldn’t give me his number so I couldn’t do the usual security check and ring him back to make sure it was legit. Funny thing is, the muppet didn’t even bother hiding his number while pulling off whatever dodgy stuff he’s up to!

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT, warning me my internet would be cut off for five days. He was so desperate, saying he’d get fired if it wasn’t true. When I said I’d just contact BT directly to check, he sounded nervous. Had an Indian accent. I just hung up.

I’ve had three calls now from someone saying they’re with BT, but since I’m not actually a BT customer, I told them I’m on the Telephone Preference Service and I’m not interested in having any more chats.

I got a call from someone with a strange accent, shouting over loads of background noise, claiming to be from BT and warning my broadband would be cut off for 10 days. I told them they were talking nonsense and ended the call. Then I rang BT myself, who said they didn’t know the number or any problems with my internet. Now BT have marked it as a complaint.

This number 01957 496719 keeps ringing me every day. I always let it go to voicemail cause I don’t trust unknown callers, and from what I’ve read here, it sounds like it’s the same scammy sort of thing. Picking up just makes them ring you more often or worse, sell your number to some other dodgy group. Best to just ignore it.

This number rang me two times today, and both times an automated voice just said 'goodbye' after a brief pause of silence. Quite strange, really.

I answered the phone, and all I got was dead air, then a robotic voice chimes in with a curt "Goodbye." Well, that's half a minute of my life I can never reclaim!
