On 4th March 2021, I got a call from 01942917800 claiming to be the assist legal team UK. They insisted on discussing a motoring offence I supposedly did. Thing is, I’ve never driven or done anything like that. I told them I actually got hit by a car as a kid back in 1968, so does that count? They just hung up on me!

It’s rather amusing! They informed me about an accident from a decade ago, yet I haven’t touched a steering wheel in all that time-don’t even possess a motor vehicle! Whenever I receive calls like that, I find it’s clever to say, “Absolutely, I’ve been eagerly anticipating your call; the mishap you’re referring to occurred thirty years back.” Then, they usually just cut off the line! Quite a laugh, isn’t it?

The individual on the line inquired if he was speaking to me directly, addressing me by name. Rather than engaging, I chose to simply hang up the phone.

Got a call about a crash I supposedly had last year, but honestly, everyone knows we've been stuck in lockdown and haven’t gone anywhere. Then she mentioned being a passenger in some accident. I told her that never happened. She said she’d remove me from their list, and I told her I’d be adding her to my scam call blacklist instead.

Samantha Parker rang me with the same sort of spiel. I asked her for my registration number and where she claimed the accident happened. She said they didn’t have those details, but I know they do! Then I asked if she understood what fraud meant. She said "not really." After that, I asked if she knew what a Justice of the Peace was, seeing as I used to be one. The call just cut off after that.

Got a call from a company saying that when I renewed my car insurance, I supposedly told them about some accident or incident. I never did. Then they went on asking if I'd had an accident in a different car. Total scammers, watch out!

This is the first time a scammer has just cut me off mid-call. A guy named Nathan rang from some legal help outfit, started off quite civil but got pushy and then downright rude. I asked him how I was meant to have had a car accident when I don’t even drive. Nathan snapped back saying I’d apparently been in a crash within the last year, and I said, “but you’re the one who called me?” Then, without another word, he just hung up on me.

This lady rang claiming she was from legal help. When I asked what firm she was working for, she just said she needed to check who she was talking to before telling me. She called my missus's phone, but clearly, I’m a bloke. So I just ended the call there.

I keep getting calls from sketchy numbers, like ten times daily. Whenever I block one, another pops up from a different number. Feels like as soon as you pick up, your number gets flagged as live and spreads around. Total pain in the neck. Just got another call, answered with a hello, then all I hear is a beep before they hang up. They really should stop this sort of thing altogether.

Got a call from a woman who sounded foreign, asking for someone totally not me. Then she started going on about some small accident that apparently happened. I just said no sorry and tried to end it, but she kept talking as I put the phone down. Definitely a scammer, so blocked the number straight away. Bet they’ll ring back from another one soon enough. Honestly, the government needs to step up and deal with these nuisance calls.
