11/05/2021 So, I got a call from someone claiming to be from a company interested in buying businesses. It was Benjamin Dunn, of all people! He asked if I was open to selling my business. I told him I don’t talk business with random cold callers and that he’d have to go through the proper channels. He sounded pretty sure of himself until I said everything had to be dealt with my solicitor first, then he just suddenly hung up! Just a heads up, watch out for this bloke and block the number if you get a call. Has anyone else reported him to the cops?

Got a call from this number just now, and they asked for me by my name. When I asked who it was, the guy said ‘Benjamin Dunne.’ Then I asked where he was calling from and he said ‘Warrington’ or something like that. Didn’t sound right so I just ended the call. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Some woman rang up asking for my husband, calling him by his first name. I asked who she was and she said Tracey. When I asked where she was ringing from, she just mentioned Warrington. I told her that didn’t really help, then she just laughed and said it was something private and that she’d send him an email instead.

Got a call from someone named Ben Dunne who claimed I knew him. I was busy on the phone, so my coworker told him that, and he just ended the call. No clue what he wanted to sell but I wouldn’t trust him with anything. Such a rude approach. I’ve reported the number to Ofcom as a nuisance.

Got a call from Benn Dunne asking for the director, who’s actually my mum. He got her name wrong at first, but when I told him, he just said ‘That’s what I call her’. I told him I’m fine handling things since we’re a family business. He said he’d send an email, so I’m waiting for that now. Once I get it, I’ll get back to him and might even point him towards this site.

Got a call asking for a business owner called Ben Dunne. When I asked where he was ringing from, he just said Warrington and let out this silly laugh. Told him hopefully the rest of the company isn't as rude, then I ended the call. He rang me again but didn’t pick up when I answered.

After going through these reviews, I've noticed I've also had a chat with the woman calling herself Jo. I’m curious if Ben's going to turn out just as cheeky and impolite as she was?

Got another ring from a bloke called Benjamin, asking for the M.D just by his first name. When I asked what it was about, he just hung up. That’s the sixth time now. Been getting some quite cheeky replies too. They must be getting some decent commission to put up with this poor work. Think it’s time to report them to the TPS and ICO.

Had a pretty similar run-in lately, called asking to talk to our MD & was told it was Benjamin Dunn from Warrington. When I asked which company he was with, he snapped back saying my phone manner was rubbish and then just hung up on me. Even if the firm was legit in any way, there’s absolutely no reason for that kind of attitude. I really struggle to trust those glowing reviews.

Got a call earlier where the person asked for me by name. I asked who it was, and he just gave a first name then asked if I was available. I then asked again who he was, where he was calling from, and which company he represented. His reply was just "(his name) from IVM, #### (my name) - we haven’t talked before." I ended the call there. He tried calling back but I blocked him straight away. Definitely not interested in chatting with him.

Got a call earlier, some bloke said it was a personal thing for my receptionist. When I pressed him, he said he worked for IVM or some place in Warrington and was trying to sell stuff to my business. When I questioned him more, he just called me a moron and ended the call. I couldn’t find any trace of that company and when I tried ringing back, the number didn’t accept incoming calls. Pretty sure he’s just some freelance cold caller with a bad attitude and probably making nothing at all.

So this woman who said her name was Jo Brunty rang up. She was using a name linked to a company director who’s not even part of the business anymore. She kept calling all the numbers we have for the company and mentioned she’d be trying other ones too. When she said she was calling back as planned, I had to inform her that her info was way out of date.

I received a call from someone requesting to speak to the MD specifically. When I inquired about the purpose of the call, she introduced herself as Jo. Same as everyone else, this Jo called all bubbly asking for my husband (who’s also co director). I told her he’s not here and asked who she was. She just said ‘Jo’, so I asked if I could take a message and she hung up straight away. Didn’t seem to listen to me or maybe didn’t even get that I’m the co director. Guess I got off quite easy then!
