I had a look at your so-called "invoice" and it raises quite a few eyebrows. This company, which has recently changed its name, has been through the wringer with a compulsory strike-off but managed to produce accounts indicating it’s practically dormant-only £1 in shares, no income whatsoever and zilch in terms of assets. It seems to have reinvented itself from a dubious claims outfit to offering teaching resources for schools. It’s now under the control of a 21-year-old director who took the reins from two others, both of whom had their fingers in around 50 questionable ventures. Plus, the website is riddled with broken links and there’s no trace of any digital footprint-definitely smells like a scam!

Got a call from someone claiming to run an anti-bullying group, but it felt fishy. Wanted donations or sponsorship cash, but seemed like a total scam to me. Watch out for these fake campaigns!

I had the misfortune of receiving a call from the same individual back in November, which I promptly declined. Today, she reached out again, claiming to be inquiring about a supposed ongoing school sponsorship initiative for road safety that I had no involvement with (because I wasn't). It seems she’s trying to fabricate sponsorships from local businesses, likely having acquired my information from Companies House, along with my mobile number. This dubious caller follows a familiar script on her second attempt; she starts by showering you with praise for your alleged support and then feigns leaving a glowing review on Google. But then - surprise, surprise - she hits you up for £199 to cover the sponsorship materials she promises to send. The moment you raise any doubts, her confidence crumbles and she abruptly ends the call. She sounds like a typical English lady in her mid-twenties, with an exceedingly saccharine tone! Take heed, everyone!

I had a rather similar experience today-an outright scam regarding the continuation of a school sponsorship for road safety, which I had supposedly participated in. The caller pretended to be soliciting sponsorship from nearby businesses. This seemed like a follow-up call where she flattered me about my previous ‘support,’ and I found myself second-guessing if I had indeed been involved in this initiative. It was all very polished and convincing. She inquired as to which school I wished the books to be dispatched to. Upon mentioning my local school, she surprisingly dropped the name of the road it’s situated on and claimed they had been eagerly anticipating this. Furthermore, she offered to leave positive feedback on social media and casually produced an ‘invoice,’ saying it was “as per our previous agreement,” and asked for £199 for the sponsorship materials. I indulged her a bit, prompting her to send the invoice first, and wouldn’t you believe it-there was a sudden offer of a £30 discount if I paid right away so they could express ship the books today! I opted to have it sent through regular post instead. I’m quite curious to see if anything arrives!

To echo what others have mentioned, it appears there's a dubious operation at play regarding some educational material. They’re attempting to get people to pay for a so-called sponsorship linked to a programme from “before Covid”. They're pushing a hefty £229 charge but sweetening the deal with a £40 discount if you settle up over the phone. When I pressed them for proof of any prior agreement, they couldn't produce a single document. They just said they'd forward my inquiry to their so-called “queries” team, but, unsurprisingly, I've yet to hear a peep back. The caller sounded like a typical Brit, went by the name “Sam Jones”. Quite fishy, if you ask me!
