5 yearsAt first I thought it was an Asian group, but turns out it’s actually from South Africa - kinda tricky to tell at first. This time they claimed to be life insurance review agents, not talking about debts like before. Need to dig deeper into this. My guess is the ringleader’s based in the UK and they’re just using a UK phone number they bought or registered to forward calls.UK5 yearsYesterday I got a call from 01925 479045, which showed up as Warrington on my phone. I reckon these scammers have gotten clever and can fake where their calls come from now. The bloke on the line had a thick Asian accent, gave himself a typical Western name, and tried to sound all friendly by asking how I was doing. Then he claimed to be from the 'Financial Conduct Authority' wanting to talk about my PPI claims. I wasn’t having any of it and told him off straight away with a colourful few words, branding him a scammer and telling him to go rot, then I hung up. But the number kept banging on at me, ringing non-stop like a dozen times in just a few minutes. When I finally picked up again, the guy was already livid, throwing around some nasty threats and calling me names. He even threatened to come round and harm me and my family in the most horrible way imaginable, capped off with telling me I’m probably too old to stop him. What a charming fellow, truly top quality! Wish I’d recorded the whole mad exchange to share, it was proper entertainment!WarringtonEnglandFinancial Conduct Authority5 yearsSo I got a call from some bloke called Jason claiming he was with the "Debt Advice Foundation" or something like that.JasonDebt Advice Foundation5 yearsGot another call today, but this one actually spoke. The guy said he was with some call blocking company and was gonna update my settings to stop annoying telemarketing calls. I’ve told these people quite a few times to take my number off their calling list. When I told the guy on the phone to delete my number, he said I never asked him directly before. So I just ended the call. Right after, the same bloke called back and started arguing with me about the whole removing my number thing. Such a hassle!5 yearsGot a missed call from this number today. Looking at the other comments, looks like a good idea to block it straight away. Been getting loads of calls like this over the past week, which is a bit worrying. What company gave them my info? They even seem to know my first name, which is a bit creepy. Not sure what’s going on here.5 yearsGot a call that was completely silent on the other end, felt like they were just checking if the number was active.5 yearsSome bloke called me saying there’s a legal order against me or something, but I told him I have no clue about it. Then he just went and hung up on me. There really ought to be a way to put an end to these scammers!5 yearsGot a call from someone speaking English with an Asian accent, asking me for my first name. They claimed to be from the Citizens Advice Bureau and said I owed money on loans and credit cards. When I told them I thought it was a scam, they just suddenly cut me off. Pretty sure they were just trying to con me.5 yearsFor the past week, I've had loads of calls from someone claiming to be Citizens Advice. When I asked who was calling, they couldn't give me a straight answer. I told them they could try taking me to court if they wanted, and then they just hung up. I've blocked one number but they keep ringing from different ones. Honestly, I just don’t bother picking up anymore.Citizens AdviceSubmit Your Own Report (01925 479045)
