Just got called again from this number out of the blue. I picked up but didn’t say a word, just set the phone down. This woman with a really pushy tone launched into her sales pitch, even though I never said anything. I kept quiet and she ended the call after about 18 seconds of no reply from me. If they call back, I’ll just stay quiet longer till they figure out it’s pointless and they’re throwing money away trying to scam me.

The phone rang twice, and when I picked up, they claimed to represent a green energy company. I inquired how they had obtained my number, as I only share it with select individuals and organisations. They insisted that I had shown interest in green energy, which is utterly untrue. Pressing them further about the source of my information, they suggested I must have entered my details on some website somewhere. That’s absolute nonsense! The only parties privy to my contact information are my bank and various government agencies. It seems quite clear that my personal details have been improperly shared by someone.

If you get silent or dropped calls, make sure to report them to OFCOM. These nuisance callers wont bother about complaints here but they do get flagged when you report them directly to Ofcom, which only takes a couple minutes on their website. Your phone provider won’t really do much since they make money from selling caller ID and promoting call blocking services.
