6 yearsIt was the usual rigmarole. A chap called our office switchboard inquiring about one of the senior managers by his first name. Apparently, this worn-out tactic is meant to bamboozle the person on the line into thinking the caller is already in the know. When I pressed him on the purpose of the call, he quite brazenly replied, "He knows, just connect me." I informed him that protocol required me to announce all calls going to the manager. He then mumbled something about an energy firm. Upon hearing this, I explained I couldn't transfer him.
