I've set up an answering service on my mobile. When an unfamiliar number reaches out, I simply allow it to be sent to voicemail. Genuine callers often leave a message, while those who don’t? Someone rang up pretending to be from Virgin Media. They managed to persuade my elderly mum to install some kind of screening app, saying they were fixing her internet. After that, they started offering her money and asked her to look at her bank balance. She checked it on a different gadget and told them nothing had appeared. Then they asked how she was sure and wanted her to hold her phone over her banking app as proof. That’s when she just ended the call. Got a call today, 3/11/22, about 10:44 am. The guy said he was Kevin from BT tech support, sounded Indian, but he just ended the call straight away.

Got a call from some bloke claiming to be from BT internet, saying folks were using my connection without permission. When I told him I wasn’t with BT (even though I actually am), he flipped out and started getting all rude and aggressive, saying I had to be with them since they’re the biggest provider in the country. Didn’t bother with it any longer, rang BT myself and blocked the number.

Got a call from someone claiming to be BT tech support, said it was about my issue. Told them everything’s fixed already, cheers, and hung up. Blocked the number now, but I’m sure they’ll ring back soon from another one.

On Thursday 3rd November at about 2.51pm, the number 01918149764 buzzed my landline. Like someone else mentioned here, the caller didn’t give her name or say what company she was from. The lady, speaking with an Asian accent, claimed there was a problem with my computer. I played along and said my screen was completely black. She replied, “Do I need to turn it on?” I told her there was now a photo of a Yorkshire valley - my home screen. She seemed a bit annoyed then, said I was just wasting her time, and told me to hang up. Then she did it! Quite a funny few minutes, really! 😀
