This guy with an American accent called asking if I was on painkillers and if the government provided them. I said yes, but when I tried to get the name of the company, they just ended the call.

On Tuesday 26th September at about 6.25pm, I got a call on my mobile from a woman who asked if I’d ever been in a car accident that wasn’t my fault. I told her no, explaining that I don’t even drive because of my epilepsy. She then kept repeating the question in different ways, almost like a robot, despite my answer. After a while, I had to be quite blunt and tell her if she didn’t stop ignoring what I was saying, I’d hang up. She then just said “Alright, thanks, goodbye” and ended the call. She never once said who she was or where she was calling from - just jumped straight into her script. Has anyone else had calls like this? I tried to ring back but couldn’t get through, so I’m guessing it was a one-way number. Proper annoying.

Some bloke rang up saying i’d been in a car crash. Had no clue about it.

It showed as Tyneside when I got the call, but as usual, if I don’t know the number, I let it go to voicemail. Checked it out and like loads of others have said, there was no message, just silence then it ended. I’ve blocked and deleted the number now. From what I’ve seen with 0191 numbers, loads of foreign places can get euro codes to make it look genuine so people pick up, but lots of these are actually premium rate scams. Best to let unknown numbers go to voicemail; if it’s important or legit, they’ll leave a message or the number can be tracked to a proper company.

Proper rude scammers ringing me up pretending to be from the benefits office, talking about some life insurance I supposedly have - which I dont! Told the bloke to cut the nonsense, and he says I’m the one wasting his time! When I said I was recording and would report him, he got all nasty and threatened to spam my phone 200 times. Absolute muppets, acting like kids.

I picked up the phone and there was nothing but silence before suddenly a sharp American female voice said "Goodbye" - sounded like a recording. Got a call from a lady who spoke English, she mentioned a company but I couldn’t quite hear the name. She then said she was told I’d been in an accident. I asked her again for the company name and she wanted me to say if it was true about the accident. I asked her once more what company she was from, then she just hung up on me.
