I had a rather unpleasant encounter with a rather cheeky young lad on the other end of the line. I informed him that we’re on the Telephone Preference Service list and have been inundated with calls from their lot, requesting them to cease this nuisance. To my surprise, he had the audacity to question why I bothered answering the phone in the first place and rather flippantly suggested that I should just unplug it if I wasn't keen on receiving such calls! It’s astonishing, really.

Regarding the free boiler situation, when I mentioned that I was aware you need to be receiving benefits, the response was rather blunt, suggesting I should find someone who does. I told them that we’ve always put in a solid effort throughout our lives. Their reply? They seemed to think I was embellishing the truth! How on earth can we stop receiving these relentless calls about boilers?

A guy rang asking if I was Mr ----, and I said yeah, that’s me. Then he started asking if I was still receiving pension credits for “that property.” I wasn’t sure what he was on about, so I asked for clarification and he just hung up on me. I’m listed on the TPS registry. When I picked up the phone, there was a lot of commotion and chatter typical of a call centre in the background, and then they abruptly disconnected the call. About an hour back, I received a call from a chap inquiring whether I was using gas, claiming to represent some company - the name was a bit of a garble, to be honest. When I replied that I wasn't using gas, he mentioned his firm could supply it or something along those lines. As soon as I caught wind of what he was on about, I politely declined, saying 'No, thank you' before hanging up. Honestly, I do hope someone - be it divine intervention or some magical sprites - can rid us of these bothersome, irritating callers.
