I got a call on my unlisted BT home phone from a really nice Geordie bloke who asked for me by name. He started talking about some great deals and even called me a loyal, long-time customer. I almost gave away my address and postcode before my missus shouted at me to hang up! If it really was BT, they wouldn’t be asking for that info. I looked it up here and it’s definitely a scam. Watch out for how friendly and polite they sound!

Today, I missed picking up the phone quick enough but still managed to hear the caller being told their call was going to voicemail before they hung up without leaving anything. My call blocker asks for the caller’s name first, so I’m guessing it’s one of those calls from BT trying to push phone deals. A lot of folks seem to think these are scams, but really, it’s just BT ignoring the fact that lots of us are on the TPS list and shouldn’t be getting these cold calls at all.
