01916719986 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01916719986 👆 is reported as a persistent and often unwelcome telesales number linked to BT, operated by an outsourced partner company based in Seaham. Callers frequently claim to represent BT, offering broadband, TV, and mobile upgrades or checking service satisfaction, but many recipients find the approach aggressive, misleading or pushy. While some confirm it as a genuine BT-approved sales operation, others suspect scams due to vague or inconsistent caller behaviour, lack of caller identification, and no messages left on answerphones. Complaints include repeated calls despite refusals, pressure tactics, and concerns about data privacy. Best practice advises caution with such unsolicited calls, avoiding sharing personal details, using BT’s official contact channels, and utilising call-blocking features or caller preference settings to minimise disturbances.

I got called and told it was from Scottish Power, saying I had just 30 minutes to ring them back or my gas and electric would be switched to Utility Warehouse. Felt like a dodgy tactic, way too rushed. Then, a couple of days later, a letter turned up with new supplier info that I never asked for. Seemed a bit off to me.

i got a call from someone claiming to be from bt telesales but they said they were outsourced from seaham. the caller said they were a sales partner and gave me an address, phone number and email. i looked it up on the main bt website on 24/12 and all info matched there. if you really want to contact bt just call their freephone 0800 169 6199 directly, that way you know its legit and safer.

They rang our home phone a couple of times today, saying they were from BT about broadband. Not sure if the BT bit was legit, but they kept pushing this BT Halo thing. They said they could give better deals, but wouldn’t share any info except over the phone. That made me quite wary, especially since in the background I could hear what sounded like a call centre, with clapping whenever someone made a sale! I told them I don’t deal with calls out of the blue like that. To me, it feels like a bit of a scam.

I've received a few calls from this number claiming to be from BT. They do sound quite convincing, but I can't shake off the feeling that they're not being entirely truthful! 01916719986 might be a legit number and most people get that you need to make a living. But what really annoys folks is that your call centre never leaves a message when it goes to voicemail. Been getting calls from this number loads over the past week. Don't know who they are, never left a voicemail either. No matter how many times folks post the same badly copied and pasted message saying it’s a legit BT sales team trying to improve this number’s rating, these calls feel like harassment to me. The fact that someone’s actually trying to boost this number’s rating makes me think it’s pretty dodgy. I’d say just ignore it. If you want to buy anything from BT, ring BT themselves - much safer than handing your details over to some random cold caller.

I did answer once, a few months ago, and they were asking what I used my broadband for and what I did with my computer. I told them straight I didn’t know who they were, so I wasn’t giving out any info, and asked them not to call again. But they’re still at it. Maybe they’re an outsourced firm working for BT, but why keep bothering me and others when a) it’s pointless, b) it makes BT look bad, and c) they must realise how much they’re annoying us all?

I picked up thinking it was someone I knew because the number seemed familiar. They called me by my name, but I ended the call soon after since the voice didn’t sound right.

Got a call on our home phone on 10th Sept. The person said they were from BT, updating about broadband. I reckon it’s a scam. If it really was BT, then they’re clearly stooping to new lows, using tricks and lies.

I really shouldn't have to block these calls. If I want anything, I'll reach out to you, not the other way around. Unlike Brexit, for me, NO actually means NO. When it’s not some UK call centre pestering me, it’s always some bloke called Nigel, Robert, or Steven - take your pick - calling from India. Seems like there arent many jobs on the railways or in Bollywood these days, if so many folks end up in call centres. Seriously, where’s their dignity?

Good on you for checking with BT and realising this is a scam number. If you can, just block it and be done with it.

Loads of bogus info here. Have a look at what I found on 23/08 about BT Telesales - they’ve put their name and address out there loads of times. Just check [#]bt[###]/partners for all the official details. Or just block 1572, it’s easy to do!

cant you just read the posts on this site? look at the one from 23/08, it has the BT telesales company name and their address right there. no point moaning if you dont even bother to check the earlier posts. blocking 1572 is super simple anyway!

The caller claimed to be from BT and appeared quite credible, as he had plenty of information regarding my BT agreement. However, the line went silent as soon as I shared my address. I'm curious-how could someone get hold of my contract information from BT? Are these unsolicited calls just a bit annoying, or is there something dodgy going on?

Somebody called me claiming to be from BT. After looking at others' comments here, it seems they're probably not legit. They mentioned a free upgrade, but when I asked if I'd end up paying more after a while, they admitted I would, which honestly sounds dodgy. Basically, some third-party pretending to be BT trying to get me to sign up for a "free" upgrade that will cost extra later on. It's pretty misleading and annoying, if you ask me.

Got a call from this number. They acted like they were from BT, but clearly they weren’t. When I asked if they worked for BT, they tried to sidestep the question and kept pretending they were from BT, which seemed quite sneaky to me. If they really had BT’s blessing, they’d say so straight away, but instead they dodged the question when I wanted a proper answer.

My elderly parents have been getting constant calls from these people. At one point, they threatened to cut off their BT service unless they paid an overdue bill of £150. Problem is, my parents don’t even use BT - their internet and phone are with a different provider.

Got a call from BT claiming we’re important customers and wanted to offer us some rewards. They started chatting about broadband, then shifted to our mobiles. Even after telling them three times we’re happy with our mobile provider, they kept pushing these “amazing deals.” Then they moved on to landline calls. In the end, it would’ve cost us more. Honestly, just avoid this call - it's so frustrating and annoying when they ignore what you’re actually saying.

BT sales people keep ringing. My broadband with BT is pretty poor cause it’s just a copper wire going into my place yet they keep pushing me to get their “super fast” internet. That’s impossible with copper lines, it just won’t work.

Yep, it’s just BT Telesales, they use an outside firm to push BT TV, broadband and mobile deals. Their office in Seaham has been mentioned loads of times, check the 29/06 notes. Blocking this number should stop the calls. There’s like six telesales offices all over the UK, all recorded here as [#]BT[###]/PARTNERS.

At five o'clock this afternoon, I received a phone call from a gentleman who identified himself as Mark from BT. Not wanting to entertain the conversation, I promptly informed him that I wasn't interested. He then insisted he had some crucial information and special offers for my home. I countered his pitch by mentioning that BT had already hiked my monthly bill by a staggering £4, so I wasn't in the mood for any sales spiel. To my astonishment, he cheekily suggested he could increase my bill even further if I was keen! That pretty much wrapped up our chat.

Just so you know, BT Telesales people only make outbound calls trying to sell stuff like BT TV, Broadband and mobile plans. If you want to stop these cold calls, you can block the number or text 'STOP' to 1572. I saw this info posted on 29/06 somewhere down below.

They claimed to be BT, but actually they're just a sales outfit licensed by BT. Not the same at all! All they want is to push their products on you. When I mentioned a minor issue, they just told me to ring BT directly!

In the past 48 hours, my phone has rung off the hook with four missed calls, but the callers never bother to leave a message. It's quite peculiar, as it feels like they’re trying to catch me off guard, hanging up the instant the answering machine kicks in. Even if I manage to pick up in time to greet them, it’s as if they’ve lost interest. I can't shake the feeling that they might be hoping I’ll incur some sort of charge! Very odd indeed.

The person sounded alright, or so I thought, but I was in the middle of something and asked if we could do the call later. When I suggested the weekend, the bloke on the other end got totally confused and just said "ok, bye"... bit strange really, you'd expect them to ask when would suit me instead.

Got two calls from this number earlier today but both times they didn't bother leaving any voicemail on my caller ID. A quick look online suggests it's connected to BT, which makes sense since we've been getting loads of emails and letters from them recently pushing some 'complete WiFi' plan that costs more each month. I'm assuming these calls are part of that. I'll ring BT myself when I'm ready to make any changes - I really can’t stand pushy sales calls and won't ever buy anything from someone ringing out of the blue.
