Someone rang claiming to be from BT OpenReach saying there was an issue with my phone line. I hadn’t noticed any problems and definitely hadn’t reported anything myself. He asked to link a BT server to my laptop to run some checks. I said that sounded risky and asked for his number so I could ring back later. He said he understood where I was coming from but insisted that was the only way to find the fault.
