Please just ignore this, it’s really nasty and I almost believed it. I was really upset because it sounded so real - someone claiming to be from the inland revenue and threatening legal action. Don’t fall for it, it’s a scam.

i am a chartered accountant working in public practice and can tell you this isnt legit hmrc. they dont use normal uk landlines to call you, so watch out for this! dont fall for it!

definitely a scam. i work with hmrc all the time and they wouldn’t leave any message like that. hmrc knows about these calls and you can report those numbers right to their fraud team. don’t bother replying to any voicemail you get from them.

Got a robo call from what sounded like someone from HMRC, but I reckon it was one of those scammy calls. They claimed they were from the revenue office and started threatening to take legal action if I didn’t reply. My advice? Just hang up and don’t bother calling them back.

Not long ago, I ended up blocking a different number from the same vicinity, and wouldn’t you know it, both that one and this new one left almost identical nonsense messages within half a minute of each other. They claimed to be from HMRC, warning me I’d be locked up if I didn’t ring them back. It’s typical of how they misbehave, if you ask me! these scammers usually just end up hanging up, so best thing is not to pick up or share any details with them. they've probably got some info on you already and might try to fool you into believing they're legit but trust me, they're not.
