On the 2nd of November, this number rang me but I didn’t pick up. 1571 showed it as 044 191 426 5430, which confused me - why is there a 0447 prefix? Is it linked to somewhere abroad? When I tried calling back without the 044, an American-sounding voice claimed the number was no longer active. I reckon my callback might have gone through to some voicemail over in the US. Pretty sure 191 points to Durham. Seems like a scam to me.

They asked if I wanted one fitted, even though I hadn’t received any letters or emails about it beforehand. She asserted that she was affiliated with EDF, claiming that electrical meters require replacement every five years. Given my background as a retired electrician, I quickly pointed out the fallacy in her statements. When I questioned the peculiar phone number she used, her response was simply that she was unaware of the issue. I’d strongly recommend blocking this number-seems a bit dodgy!
