On the 2nd of November, this number rang me but I didn’t pick up. 1571 showed it as 044 191 426 5430, which confused me - why is there a 0447 prefix? Is it linked to somewhere abroad? When I tried calling back without the 044, an American-sounding voice claimed the number was no longer active. I reckon my callback might have gone through to some voicemail over in the US. Pretty sure 191 points to Durham. Seems like a scam to me.

Got a call the other day from someone claiming to be with EDF, saying they're doing smart meter installations locally. They asked if I wanted one fitted, even though I hadn’t received any letters or emails about it beforehand. Be careful, this is just some dodgy sales pitch attempting to get you to buy smart meters pretending it's from EDF. If you actually want a smart meter, it's best to reach out directly to your energy provider - they usually install them for free anyway.

Had a call from a woman speaking in a strong Newcastle accent offering me a "Smart Meter". She said she was with EDF and that electric meters had to be replaced every five years. Being a retired sparkie, I told her she was talking nonsense. I also questioned why her phone number looked so odd, and she just said she didn't know about it. Honestly, I'd say just block that number.
