This number has called me loads of times and I usually don’t pick up ’cause I get anxious and don’t know who it is. It was Economy Energy trying to quiz me about who supplies my energy right now and how much my bills are. They kept asking if I wanted a smart meter and I kept saying no, quite firmly. Then, out of nowhere the next week, a key and card arrives saying I’m now with Economy Energy! Completely baffling and stressful!

Some woman called me, quite impolite from the start, asking if I’d had a meter taken out. I asked which company she was from, and she said Smart Energy. I told her I wasn’t interested and asked nicely to be taken off their calling list. She suddenly got really aggressive, shouting that she was calling on behalf of the government and that I couldn’t be removed. I told her to calm down but she just yelled even louder, saying it was a noisy call centre and she wasn’t shouting at all! I hung up there. Definitely put them on your block list and if they try from another number, block that one too. The people there are nasty and really unpleasant to deal with.

Somebody called me out the blue about installing smart meters for my electric. Thing is, your energy company will sort that free of charge if you just give them a shout. They started off talking about prepay meters, clearly having zero idea about my current setup - just fishing for sales I don’t need to pay for. Just got a call from this number about smart meters. The bloke spoke really quickly and said someone would be in touch soon with info about the meters. After I gave some details, he mentioned a new key would be sent out by post for the meter upgrade. I told him I'm not switching anything, but he insisted no firm just calls to share info. When he asked for my birth date, I refused, and he just guessed 01/01/98. I'm curious to see what turns up in the post, especially as I made it clear I don't want any mail or changes to my gas or electric at all.
