I got a call about some kind of ppi thing, and I just said that a firm up here in Scotland was handling it. Then they went on about me not wanting my money and just hung up. When I tried calling them back, there was nothing - no ring or anything. Proper weird.

This number keeps ringing my work line and I finally picked up today. Some guy called "Wadim" spoke with a heavy Indian accent that was hard to understand. He somehow knew my full name, where I live, and mentioned money he claimed I owed from a loan. When I asked for more info about his company and the reason for the call, he quickly turned rude and told me to "F*** off". Thing is, I've never taken out a loan in my life, apart from my mortgage, so it’s all nonsense. Just another pointless time-wasting call from some sketchy person.

This morning I got a call from this number while I was in Inverness, Highland, about some PPI thing. The bloke actually knew my name! I ended the call straight away, but then he had the nerve to ring me back asking why I’d cut him off. I told him it was obviously a scam.

This morning got a call from some bloke called Prat, claiming he’d got a cheque for us and needed our name. The line was pretty crackly, and I thought it was an international call at first. He mentioned the sum was £1900, so I jokingly said a mate reckoned it was £19000. He kept insisting it wasn’t, but I kept going on, just messing about. Eventually he cottoned on I was having a laugh and, getting really narky, told me to shove off! Proper tough guy over the phone, eh?

I’ve been trying to get hold of BT as I’m absolutely fed up with these constant calls. I’m ex-directory and do night shifts, yet I still get about 3 to 5 calls daily. I can’t even switch my phone off since my dad is quite ill. BT mentioned they’d put a call divert on my number, so fingers crossed it actually does the trick. Totally with you on this one. I'm Asian too, but I couldn't make head or tail of what the bloke was saying - he said his name was John, which I found a bit hard to believe. Suddenly, I got passed to some floor manager guy. I asked him a couple of things and told him to pipe down and listen, only for him to hang up on me right away. This morning, I got a call from some lot claiming I was due about £2000 in PPI from a loan I took out with Barclays back in 2005. I actually did have that loan, but how on earth did they get hold of my personal info? My number is ex-directory like loads of others here, so it’s worrying to think our data might be being sold around. They were relentless, ringing me back again after I said no, so I told them where to stick it and mentioned I was recording the call for the police. That shut them up quick. Seriously, never give out your DOB or place of birth - these folks are proper scammers.

I've got three calls recently from various folks with such strong accents it was hard to catch what they said. I made it clear every time that I don’t want any more calls. The noise in the background was so loud it set off alarm bells for me. They kept switching between chats about loans and PPI refunds, but what really creeped me out was they knew my name even though I’m off the public phone registry. One of them even grumbled something about it being "illegal" to opt out of their calls. Well, I’m willing to take that risk.

Just got a call from some lot claiming to be from a firm called PPI Refund. Could hardly make out what they were going on about, but they kept insisting I write down answers because I’d be transferred to a supervisor. Ended up chatting with four different folks, all sounding foreign, and they asked the same questions over and over again. Got fed up by the fourth time and told them straight that I already answered these questions multiple times. The last bloke kept pushing to get my bank details, claiming I was owed a full payback on some supposed £5000 loan from Santander in 2004 - which I never had. I told him to jog on! With all the other complaints online, you’d think something would be done to stop this nonsense.

I usually just ignore calls from this number cos I reckon it's one of those PIP scams. But I accidentally answered once and just said hello. The person on the other end said hello too, then there was this weird buzzing sound before the line went dead. Definitely won’t be picking up if they call again.

I just got a phone call from this number and decided to humour them. Ended up chatting with four different voices, with two of them coaching me on what to say to the next caller and asking me to jot it down. Honestly, I found it simplest to let them keep going on. The weird part is they take 39% if you actually manage to get anything out of it. They come across as proper bullies. I've been getting loads of calls on both my landline and mobile about PPI claims, so I decided to mess about a bit with the number 01913082643. The guy on the phone spoke in really broken English, so it was tough to catch what he was saying. Eventually, he handed me over to his "supervisor" who had an Asian-sounding accent. They claimed to represent the Financial Services Association and said I was due a refund of £3000 because of a loan I'd taken out ages ago. The woman asked which bank I used but didn’t want my full account details. I said I wasn’t comfortable giving that info over the phone. She told me I’d get some paperwork posted the next day and to be ready with answers to her questions. The call went back and forth for a bit, with her asking about my bank and me asking where she’d got my landline from since I’m on the ex-directory. Out of nowhere, she snapped at me, calling me stupid and an idiot before hanging up. Lovely experience...

Just like loads of others have said, these lot called to say I had a loan and was owed a refund from Lloyds TSB. They asked me to note down some info for when they transferred me to another team. Some bloke said he was from the Refund Team. I could hear loads of people chatting in the background, sounded like a call centre, so I just pretended to be interested to waste, like, 10 minutes of his time. Oddly, he had my wife’s info, even our address, but under a name she hardly uses, so it’s definitely some dodgy data leak or privacy breach. He kept dodging the question about where he got the info from. The call was pretty muffled too, so I just kept asking him to say things again to drag it out. In the end, he gave up and hung up. Still wondering how on earth he got those details... Folks saying they’re ex-directory but still get calls - they’re getting your info from somewhere else, no doubt.

Somebody called pretending they were from the main PPI office, claiming we had a loan we never took out. They kept pushing us to pass our details on to another team about this supposed loan. The caller even said they’d post the loan papers to our house the very next day.

I keep getting calls about some home improvement loan they say I should’ve taken out and repaid already, with £2,000 supposedly owed back to me in a couple of weeks. They claim I’ll receive documents proving this by tomorrow. When I tried to answer some questions that didn’t seem right, the woman got annoyed and told me to write everything down so I wouldn’t mess up my answers. I got a call from this number on 23rd July. The person on the line claimed they could help me recover money from a Lloyds TSB loan. I told them I’d never had anything to do with Lloyds TSB. They insisted the loan was from 2006. I repeated that I’d never dealt with Lloyds TSB at all. Before I could reply further, the man said he’d check if it was maybe a different bank. In under a minute, he said it might’ve been a short-term loan from 2006 for a car, either with Lloyds TSB, NatWest, or Nationwide. That’s when I told him I’d never had dealings with any of those banks, plus I’ve never even had a car since I don’t drive! Then he admitted it must be an error and hung up. Fingers crossed that means I’m no longer on their list.

Between the 19th and 20th of June 2014, this number called me three times. I couldn't make out what the person was saying at all. When I tried calling back, the phone just rang for over a minute, then a recorded voice in clear English said, "The person you are trying to reach isn’t available.
