i got a call from someone saying they were from british gas but the line was crackly and the bloke had a strong indian accent, so i figured it was a scam. british gas never rings you up like that out of the blue. never share your info with them!

They said they were from SSE but it was pretty obvious it was a scam.

So, this person rang up pretending to be from Opus Energy, saying there was a billing error and we’d been charged too much.

I noticed this number had rung me twice but when I tried calling back, all I got was strange beeps and no reply. Seems like it might be one of those fake UK mobiles or some sort of virtual line.

Absolute charlatans, droning on about financial obligations and IVAs. Quite frankly, it’s nothing to do with me. A classic case of phishing, if you ask me.

I tried to return the call, but it says the number isn't valid. When I picked up, there was utter silence on the other end. Total scam-I've added them to my blocked list!
