Be careful about the winter fuel payment stuff, I think I might have been tricked. Ended up sharing way more details than I should have. Fingers crossed it’s not a big problem. Seems like it could be some kind of scam.

This number rang me earlier claiming to be from the DWP about my winter fuel payment. The bloke asked straight away for my address, but I said no way, I’d get in touch with the DWP myself. He was fairly polite and sounded like he was from Newcastle. He said if he couldn’t verify my details, I wouldn’t get the payment, which sounded a bit off to me.

I got a call from someone claiming to be with the winter fuel payment folks. I’d already received a letter about my late mum, so it felt quite legit. They told me since she passed not too long ago, there’s a payment she could claim. I wasn’t asked for any bank info or anything like that, which made it feel pretty trustworthy.

Someone rang me up asking for my National Insurance number, but I didn’t give it out. They said it was about me not paying for the Winter Fuel Payment. I told them the money’s already in my account. Not too sure if it was a scam or legit, really hard to figure.
