somebody kept ringing me saying they were from the telephone preference service. they were really pushy, kept calling like 5 or 6 times on the first day and rang again the next day. the creepy bit was they had my home address, which freaked me out. i looked them up on 1471 and the number was 01909732220. makes me think, has the telephone preference service database been compromised or something?

Got a call today from someone with a foreign accent asking for my bank info, said it was for stopping nuisance calls. Normally I just get silent calls from unknown numbers, so this was a bit different.

They claimed to be some kind of call blocking company. Oddly, they already had my debit card info, including the start and expiry dates, and wanted me to verify it. Felt fishy, so I just ended the call - seemed like a total scam to me.

We've had this number ring us about half a dozen times today. The caller ID first says INTERNATIONAL, then quickly switches to 01909732220, but then reverts back to INTERNATIONAL. Each time, no one speaks and they just hang up right away. This is meant to be a business, but these calls are ridiculous, eating up my time and distracting me from my work. I'm really annoyed now. Just stop it already!

Got a call from a bloke named Roger - reckon he’s gotta be the only Roger around the whole of the Indian subcontinent. He was pitching some “lifetime shield” against international spam calls, charging a measly £21.95 for it. Can’t wrap my head around how anyone falls for this kind of scam these days, but I suppose it must still catch a few. Honestly, I’m baffled how they keep managing to ring me up in the first place.

That’s when I started getting wary and told them there was no need to share that info, then ended the call. They keep ringing back but I just hang up every time.

I tried using 1471 to check who called but I don’t recognise the number at all. Now, I’ve had to switch all unknown calls straight to voicemail so I can avoid these annoying interruptions! I’ve been getting loads of calls from this number but as soon as I pick up, they just hang up straight away. So far, no messages left either. It’ll be interesting to see if they start leaving any though. We’re already signed up to TPS and FPS, so there’s no way I’m paying for anything from these calls.

Got a call from this number around 7pm yesterday. The caller ID said "international," which seemed odd. I answered but there was complete silence on the other end, then they just hung up after a couple of seconds. Looks like another scam, as I’ve had calls from this number before, always the same weird behaviour. Anyway, I've blocked it now.

got a call from a woman claiming to be from telephone preference service, said it was some kind of upgrade from bt which i already have. she started by checking my address and asked if i pay by direct debit, which i do. but then she wanted the expiry date on my debit card and that was the point i cut her off, no way i’m sharing that info! she first called me mrs but then switched to my brother's name, he’s listed above me in the electoral roll, think she mixed us up and assumed he was my husband. best thing is to just hang up on these calls!

The first fella tried to get the expiry date of my debit card linked to the payments. Then another bloke on the line was asking for my bank sort code and account number. This number has rung our house on seven different occasions. Whenever we answer, there’s no one on the line. However, when we tried calling the number back, an older gentleman answered and told us he hadn’t phoned us at all. He said we were actually the third person to ring him about this. Bit of a mystery - either a fault with the line or someone’s using his number without permission? Properly annoying now. Please, just stop calling!
